Searching for a 365 today and found this moth/butterfly? on the base of my sliding door!

Not a perfect macro but just grabbed my little Sony camera.

(Sun came out so I released it into the garden - hope I did the right thing)

They can be quite annoying when trying to focus on getting the perfect macro shot but they have such beautiful eyes.

I know it's not a perfect macro, but I like the tones and the atmosphere it creates.

I think this one is a perfect Macro/Bokeh composition...I just love this image

Canon EOS 7D - no flash used

Macro Monday 8-7-09

Theme: Fuzzy

While sitting in a little grassy area across from the Sears...excuse me...

Willis Tower....my camera lens popped out. While I was cleaning it, I was noticing what the lens was doing, and how the focus was different. I thought this would be the perfect Macro Monday for this theme.

I like how there's three different levels of focus in this shot. The lens and fingers are the sharpest, then a slight out-of-focus on the scene around them, then inside the lens, completely fuzzy.

This photo was taken in my garden.

I was just trying something dark and got this perfect macro.

Sony DSC - H10

an almost perfect macro from a rose at night with some dew

Old from 16th October 2005

of course not a perfect macro, but the colors are kind of nice.......... (still have to learn a lot of course, also i still have no supporting flash), so let's say 1st try.

These bees are very lethargic making them perfect macro subjects

Met my new lens today :) Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8.

PERFECT macro lens, just what I was looking for!

dedicated to AlgerienBBA,it makes me remember his perfects macro shot ^^

I almost missed my bus shooting this snail. It was too good an opportunity to miss. My cigarette nearly fell out of my mouth when I saw this perfect macro opportunity.

Here's Mike.....always on the eternal quest for the perfect macro.......Darren stands quietly by ,watching.

...or whether the feather be hot

We'll weather the feather whatever the weather

Whether we like it or not

I actually can't remember what this feather is; I think it's from a pigeon.

It is mounted on a frosted glass lampshade as an impromptu lightbox, shot taken with the Sigma 70-300mm EX APO DG Macro. Not a perfect macro lens as way too long really, but with a tripod and a bit of sharpening can produce good results!

Much better large.

Not a perfect macro, the main hoverfly's head is cut offt, but I couldn't resist the other hoverfly approaching.

It was a dark, blustery, rainy day today and my daisy's and sunflowers are dying fast, so I thought it would be a perfect day to take some final pics of them.

But I'm so sick of the normal perfect macro flower shots. Don't get me wrong, I love those and take hundreds of them myself. But sometimes, I just want to do something different. The flowers are dying, so I didn't want to go for that perfect macro shot.

I wanted something blurry, kind of distorted and over exposed. Something "dying". Something a little abstract. And this photo came out exactly like I wanted it to, except for one thing. I have no idea how the sky came out that color. I did not tint it or add any color to it or saturate it. When I was taking these photos the sky was very dark, with dark gray and blue clouds. I used a flash to try and get that bright, surreal look and this is how the sky looked when I downloaded it. Lucky shot I guess, because I think that background color is just perfect. Fabulous in fact. I totally adore this photo.

Of course that means it will get no comments because all of the photos I like NEVER get any comments. lol! That's okay. I still love it.

May not be a perfect macro shot..But Lunar Moth is one of the rarely seen moth.Taken in Venkatagiri Hills,Andhra Pradesh.

Details from the web:

The Luna moth or Lunar Moth (Actius luna) comes from a type of giant silk moth which has a pair of natural fluorescent green colored wings with a brown, and white "eye" on each of its wings. They have long, sweeping lower wing-tails. The normal wing span for Lunar Moths is from 3 to nearly 8 inches across. This nocturnal insect is found in deciduous forests.

... not a perfect macro but.. it's a ladybug... :)

Far from perfect macro of a Mosquito. not great light, etc so couldn't put the aperture up much more....

A photo of a bee with a rose in the Royal Botanical Gardens. This was the first time I actually achieved a perfect macro.

I am considering buying the new macro lens Canon announced last week, this to me seems the perfect macro lens for what I use it for. I will probably get one next year before the butterflies appear. Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM Lens, I am wondering how many other people will swap their 100mm macro for the new one.

I am not sure on the ID of this caterpillar, would be interested to know if anybody does? The closest I have got is a Knot Grass Moth caterpillar

It's not a perfect macro, but it was my 1st attempt with my Canon G-12. I don't have a macro lens for my 7D yet. But in the meantime I think this did a fairly decent job. :-)

Impossible to get perfect macro on all levels at once, so this time I focused on the centre of this lovely spring bloom!

I like aspects of photography that allow me to see that which I would not normally see and my new macro lens leads the way to a new way of seeing. Today's subject is a harlequin cotton bug, sometimes called a hibiscus bug. Their colours are amazing, an extravaganza of oranges and blues. They make perfect macro challenges in hand-holding the camera. This one was hyperactive so keeping up with bug and focus was quite a feat.

This was taken using my Schneider-Kreuznach Componon 40mm f/4 Lens that i use as a Do It Yourself Macro lens. This is a perfect Macro of the delicate flower on a Bogan Via that we have at home. I love the vignetting that occurred around the photo because of the difference in Apertures and sizes in the lenses. I did not use a flash for this series of photos. This turned out to be one of the best ones in the set.

I know it is not a perfect macro, but this is my very first own iris (my favorite flower) and I really wanted to celebrate it!!

Still trying for a perfect macro.

Jumping spiders are some of the most fascinating arachnids, with incredible vision, lightning-fast reflexes, and a curious personality that makes them perfect macro subjects. This Zebra Jumping Spider was darting around constantly, making it a challenging but rewarding subject to capture.

To ensure maximum detail and depth, I used photo bracketing and then stacked the images in Photoshop to achieve an extended depth of field. Final color grading and refinements were done in Lightroom to bring out the intricate textures and fine hairs on this tiny predator.

I bought these heart shaped marshmallow sweets at the weekend, as they looked like the perfect macro shot for Valentines Day. Mrs GA intends to bake some heart themed cupcakes later, using these as decorations - can't wait to eat one!

Happy Valentines Day everyone.

Flowers in my living room, it's not a perfect macro lens, but my 18-55 DX II works better than most kits.

our camera is horrible for regular shots, but pretty good with macros... except for the eating the batteries part.

sleeping kittens are perfect macro subjects.

Not sure what this is but it was lazy from the cold and therefore a perfect Macro-model.

Since it was my day off work, I had time to go to BCC and fix my classes... after half a semester of not going to school I am finally going back next tuesday... blah. I just hope I dont slack and get good grades. After I went to BCC, I went to have a sushi date with babe, home made style. We havent done it in awhile so why not haha. This pretty much sums up my day. Also I'm starting to pick up on my film game, Bringing my film camera with me everywhere. Still can't wait for friday to come... you guys will see! Well for todays shot I while i was shaking off all the snow from my car. I saw the perfect macro shot for my emblem. I just love how much detail is on this photo. You're gonna see a lot of my car (Shirley) (myrideordie) lol.

(I'll change the title if someone can tell me what kind it is.)

Saw some flowers while my son Evan and I were out on a walk the other day. The flowers were in someone's front yard right by the street.

I went out late this morning with my tripod and had a go. Not a perfect macro, but not too shabby either.

My dad playing with his new XTi!

It is frustrating when you know what kind of pictures you wanna take and your camera refuses to help you realize that perfect shot u're dreaming of... I love my camera, it is the first time I'm experimenting taking pictures for the fun of taking pictures, I still have soooo many things to learn so I'm gonna be wise and wait more before thinking of investing in a more expensive camera... Perfect macros will wait!! :))

Taken Through Reverse lens technique. Achieving a perfect macro with grains...

The pollen grains can b clearly seen... nd thats awesome

Back by popular demand in a larger venue, the Macro Photography: Close-up Photography hands-on workshop was held in the Bayfield Community Centre. Here, Kathy Lucas assisted Jack Pal in getting that perfect Macro shot. (Photo by Melody Falconer-Pounder)

A return to the old watch from a previous day. I realized the other day I had passed up a perfect macro opportunity and not taken any pictures of the internals of the watch. Nice rainy day outside, so I got it out of the case and set it up. Just a little light filter work and levels adjustments again.
