This whole project has been an amazing experience. The two of us became friends through Vimeo and explored a shared interest in timelapsing Yosemite National Park over an extended period of time. We'd like to expand this idea to other locations and would appreciate any suggestions for a future project.

Our hearts go out to the families of Markus Praxmarer who lost his life while climbing Half Dome on September 19th, 2011 and Ranger Ryan Hiller, who was crushed by a tree January 22nd 2012. They will be missed. (A photo of Ranger Ryan Hiller can be found to the right, above the statistics counter)

Today I visited Landscapes without memory in Foam Amsterdam. An exhibition with virtual landscapes, which took us, two geographers, into questions like 'where is this / where could this be / how could this landscape be categorised'. Worth visiting.
Browsing through recent photos I found this one, which could be seen as a landscape / map.

Friends of Perspectives including, parents, teachers, students, alumni, business and community leaders, celebrated student research and presentations about A Disciplined Life at the third annual “A Disciplined Life Expo” (Expo) on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at Perspectives Rodney D. Joslin Campus, 1930 S. Archer Avenue, between 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Artist & Best Friends Animal Sanctuary founder, Cyrus Mejia's show Pits & Perception opened in Los Angeles @ Artology 101 in Glendale. There were several live pit bulls in attendance at the festivities.

A view from a spy hole from a room at the Holiday Inn Armouries Dr Leeds. If you must know it was from room 420. I used a normal compact camera and placed the lens flush against the spy hole, no flash and this was the result.
William L. Fox's research concerns perception and landscape and the transformative power of human cognition. His current topic is the Anthropocene, a new epoch of geological time determined by ecological transformation of the planet due to human actions. Fox's talk will trace the development of earth systems science form Alexander von Humboldt to Nobel laureate Paul Crutzen, who proposed the Anthropocene, and examine the synergy between artists - including Timothy C. Ely's work, currently featured in a large exhibition at the Northwest Museum of Arts and culture - and scientists, as they study, represent, and seek to modify the environment.
As I saw the land around Marrakech from the plane as we flew in last week, I thought 'ooh, that looks dry.' Yesterday as we left I thought 'wow, so green.' Heh.

A PRIVATE SPACE IN A PUBLIC PLACE
A young man who has fallen asleep listening to music through earphones;
A digitalised image, photocopied, silkscreen-printed and made into a poster.
The posters appear in busy public places both in the Pacific region (New Caledonia, New Zealand, Japan, Australia, Rapa Nui, Wallis, Moorea, Tahiti) and in Europe (France, England, Italy, Spain)...
It is a matter of shifting the image and moving it to a place where it would not usually be found at all: urban asvertising media/materials (bus shelters, public notice boards, election campaign billboards, newsstands, automatic teller machines, etc.) Ideas that perturb normal behaviour or locations. These images in the city, which disturb the habits and perceptions of passers-by and users, are accidental spaces: they occur almost as a break, both in bus shelters and on walls and shift the notion of use of the street or the item.
With this kind of perception shift caused by the image I have placed in the street and which has just caused the break, I cause an accident: I surprise, trouble or stop the passer-by. Because the image is not in the right place. My work is both the poster and the people who pass by, who are walking around, their attitude as to this image... the movement in the city.
After growing up in Europe and completing his undergraduate education at Southern Methodist University, Sean accepted an offer from Teach For America (TFA) to be a High School Math teacher in Hawai‘i. After finishing his two-year commitment to TFA and his master’s degree at University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, his passion convinced him to stay on at Waipahu High School despite other opportunities. This passion continues to inspire him as he teams up with Dan Nash to reshape the very perceptions of how people learn.
While studying Mathematics at Michigan State University, Daniel worked on the Undergraduate Mathematics Curriculum Committee, did research for the Biological Mathematics program, and served as a teaching assistant for the Emerging Scholars Mathematics program. As a Math instructor at Waipahu High School, Daniel continues to collaborate with fellow Math teacher Sean Briel on reshaping the way Math is learned and taught.
