"In a 2001 study published by Nature, Frank S. Werblin, professor of molecular and cell biology at the University of California at Berkeley, and doctoral student Boton Roska, M.D., showed that the optic nerve carries ten to twelve output channels, each of which carries only minimal information about a given scene.”
“Although we have the illusion of receiving high-resolution images from our eyes, what the optic nerve actually sends to the brain is just outlines and clues about points of interest in our visual field. We then essentially hallucinate the world from the cortical memories that interpret a series of extremely low resolution movies that arrive in parallel channels." Then there's this.

Perception Sport - our current choice for kayaks. Light (only 35 lbs) and two of them fit on top of my Mini.
This project is focused on two psychosocial phenomenas: twinning and the cheerleader effect, which catalyze our perception of aesthetics. It aims to highten their impact by grouping together models with similar features, through the use of specific garments, all while creating a social link and an orthogonal composition. Twinning relies on a mirroring effect. It affirms one’s identity through mutual approval. Similar to this, the cheerleader effect, (or group attractiveness effect), is the cognitive bias which causes people to think individuals are more attractive when they are in a group. The perception of beauty enhances with the way the image is composed, through the use of universal aesthetic codes such as: symmetry, unity and repetition.

Today I visited Landscapes without memory in Foam Amsterdam. An exhibition with virtual landscapes, which took us, two geographers, into questions like 'where is this / where could this be / how could this landscape be categorised'. Worth visiting.
Browsing through recent photos I found this one, which could be seen as a landscape / map.

Look at the details: it's the front of a VW van. Look at the thumbnail to the right: it's the back of a Lada Niva. Gotcha! :-P

Cross (converge) your eyes gently while viewing and focus on the middle image that appears while ignoring the outside. With practice you will see depth perception.

Artist & Best Friends Animal Sanctuary founder, Cyrus Mejia's show Pits & Perception opened in Los Angeles @ Artology 101 in Glendale. There were several live pit bulls in attendance at the festivities.
From cyrusmejia.com/art/pits-and-perception
"Art can present us with a different view, a new perspective, another way of thinking about things. In this series of paintings of Pit Bulls I’m challenging the current-day perception of these dogs. Not by changing their image, but by depicting them close-up, larger than life, and inviting the viewer to question how they see and perceive Pit Bulls."

A view from a spy hole from a room at the Holiday Inn Armouries Dr Leeds. If you must know it was from room 420. I used a normal compact camera and placed the lens flush against the spy hole, no flash and this was the result.
den haag green city
Green is a color, the perception of which is evoked by light having a spectrum dominated by energy with a wavelength of roughly 520–570 nm. It is considered one of the additive primary colors. In the subtractive color system, it is not a primary color, but is created out of a mixture of yellow and blue, or yellow and cyan.
The word green is closely related to the Old English verb growan, “to grow”.
