After a summer of Covid-19 and other distractions I think I am finally able to concentrate on a new study. It took a while to decide what to draw and then I had to dig out several older references to get the information needed to proceed. I am clearly out of practice. Still, the first couple of hours of rendering have gone quite well. Drawn with a Staedtler Graphite 0.3mm pencil and Tombow Mono Zero eraser in an A4 sketchbook.

Hand-colored, limited edition print from an original pencil drawing, of Ahnawake Clinch, Native American beauty, by Joe Belt. Ahnawake was in "The Last of the Mohicans" movie, and is very active helping her people obtain an education and improve their health and well-being. Original is no longer available.
….I've picked up the pad & pencils from being idle since the mid '80s. I'm polishing up, to do some more serious drawings in the near future. Scanner not working, so I took a photo of the finished work. This is a wild cottontail rabbit I named Friendly; because he let's me get within 8 feet away when photographing him.

Although I'm not a huge fan of Valentine's Day, here is a blue-eyed blonde man for those of you who are! I was surprised when we were trying to find a film to watch and JJ suggested the 2020 version of Jane Austen's Emma on Netflix. None of us are into costume drama but JJ had read a good review.
There were some great British actors in this version and I was rather taken with Mr Knightly, played by Johnny Flynn!
apartment block in Nishinomiya. yuko and yasuhide's is the one with a disused multigym thing on the balcony. I did this from the top floor walkway of the dorm of a patisserie school. Quality chocolate smells.
I recently revisited drawing backs and hair - not sure if it's any better than the first time, but I thought I'd give it a go on slightly coloured paper this time.

Back up to the top of the drawing to finish off he modillions and pilasters. Just visible, at the extreme top right, is a glimpse of some of the dormer windows on the roof as there were two floors of office rooms accommodated in the roof space. While the window surrounds and cornices were made of stone, the main walls of stone and brick, there was a good deal of concrete and steel also used to good effect for the load bearing floors and window lintels. The builders of 1896-1906 made full use of traditional and modern materials. Drawn with a Staedtler 0.3mm pencil in an A4 cartridge paper sketchbook.
late night drawing, a lot of fun, really pleased of the outcome so far regardless of all the flaws.
Must add background and texture to its skin.

PENCIL DRAWING: Done on heavy Bristol paper. Size 11x14. Gordon Lightfoot had hits in the 70's including "If You Could Read My Mind" "Carefree Highway" and "Sundown". Today they are all "Lost 45's".
After 7hrs, the drawing has been completed. Everything here is done using pencil and done free-handed.
In truth, this building in Mackworth Village, is only a 15th century gateway. And although Grade 2 Listed, is actually a folly.
