For Sliders Sunday. A zoomed in view of one of the numerous mines located in the Historic Mining District on W. Willow Creek Rd. along the Bachelor Historic Tour route in Creede, CO. I wish we could have spent more time here as I love finding abandoned mines.
Thought I'd go for a full body drawing this week - a bit different to a portrait of a face but almost as enjoyable to do!

Jackson was a late Christmas request as a sketch from an not overly clear iPhone photo .. a fun challenge .
Meet Giovanni - he's from the same site as the last dog I drew (Harbie, from Bosnia). This dog is from Jordan though - they rescue from several different countries. Giovanni is quite cute too but at 40kg (more than two Linas!)he's bigger than he looks in my drawing!

In the foreground 3 Chapter House Street, a late medieval house with a stone ground floor and formerly jettied, timber framed upper storey. It was enlarged and encased in brick in the 17th century, when the jetty was removed. Another medieval house lies behind, incorporated into an 18th century house on Minster Yard. Behind is the Lady Chapel and Choir of York Minster. The Lady Chapel was built in 1361-73, the Choir between 1394 and 1420.

On the south side of Micklegate, between the churchyard of Holy Trinity and Priory Street, there is an interesting collection of historic buildings. Number 83 is a small brick house probably built in the second quarter of the 18th century, alongside the gateway to the church. It is built against the three storey timber framed building housing numbers 85-89. This building was erected by Holy Trinity Priory as three tenements under one roof, probably for rental income, in the late 15th or early 16th century. All three tenements were used by butchers in the 18th century, at least one remaining in this use well into the 19th century. Both these buildings are now owned by York Conservation Trust. Next door are numbers 91 and 93, formerly a single house which was home to several merchant tailors in the mid 18th century. The tall gabled building, 95 Micklegate, is a 16th century timber framed structure. It was originally jettied on the first floor but the overhang was underbuilt with a shop front in the late 19th or early 20th century. The building was extended to the rear in the 17th century. For many years it has been a Post Office. On the corner of Priory Street is a 20th century building. Beyond that is the gable of The Priory public house. On the extreme right is the rear of Micklegate Bar.

it was 4-hour waiting for my flight, Domodedovo airport, Moscow. There's something very special about airport atmosphere, especially in such early hour (around 5 am), when this busy "hive" awakes

For photos of Sara Cox, click here. I have a soft spot for TV presenter, Sara Cox and her quick-witted humour (and have just finished reading her novel 'Thrown') -- here's some info from Wikipedia:
Sara Joanne Cyzer (née Cox; born 13 December 1974) is an English broadcaster. She presented Radio 1 Breakfast on BBC Radio 1 from 3 April 2000 until 19 December 2003. Since January 2019 she now hosts the BBC Radio 2 drivetime show, Monday–Friday 4pm–7pm. *I drew this a couple of years ago. I added a frame texture by pareeerica.
You can walk past something many times and not notice the nuances. It dawned on me drawing the windows that perhaps there might be a date difference between the ones on the left and the ones on the right. A bit of reading revealed that the Lady Chapel, on the left, was built first and the Choir followed, the whole bridging the gothic architecture periods of decorated and perpendicular. The drawing is nearing completion, but I am not rushing it. It has had too many tricky moments already.
