I have a window feeder and love to watch the birds who visit. Yesterday I was out front, taking a photo of the snow on the hills, when I saw this little guy pop in the feeder. Our Christmas tree, which sit in front of this window, provided the perfect snow flake, even though we have no snow.

While touring the Colosseum in Rome caught this view of the Arch of Constantine while peering through a window. Both structures were amazing and full of so much history. The Colosseum, completed in 80 AD, was the largest ancient amphitheatre, held 80,000 spectators and was best known for the gladiatorial contests held there. The triumphal arch commemorates Constantine the Great, was finished in 315 AD and is really large with a height of 69' and a width of 85'. So enjoyed our trip to Italy, Rome was certainly a highlight of our time there.

Another bird variety from the Tomnafinnoge Wood visit. I looked up into the trees and here I saw a pair of eyes looking down from on high. He stayed like that even when I was moving my camera to my face and I was able to get a shot in. A cute and curious male Siskin.

A young adult black bear peers out at me from the limb where he rests, entertaining himself by idly stripping the bark from the branches. This is a wild cinnamon-phase black bear who is at ease in my presence.

Hey, Dad, now that we're peers, I've noticed-

-that even though we're the same age, I have much more energy than you and can still run like the wind, while you now run more like breaking wind. What's wrong with you?

"Okay, coupla things: we are not equals; you're being rude; and as you've seen with most other people my age-"

-Our age-

"-My age, humans usually wind down slowly as they get older, while dogs can often go-go-go until they hit the wall. It's physiological."

I'm physical and logical too. That's how I know that it's good for us to take our walks out here, because there's no walls for me to hit, and in that case I should live forever, right?

(See what looks like a river channel of dry weed in the distance? That is in fact part of the old Ottawa River bed from about 8000 years ago, and we're playing on what was the sandy shore of an island.

This Mer Bleue region was in the 50's considered for a dump, or draining and developing, among other short-sighted ideas.

Thankfully wiser heads eventually prevailed, and this region is now considered a sensitive ecological marvel with it's own rare ecosystem. And some of the island shores make great sandboxes.)

That wonderful sunset light created a beautiful warmth to a very cold November evening. It's hard to even know that it was November by the looks of it, but it definitely was. I am so thankful that places like this actually exist in the Midwest since we are so far away from either the Pacific or Atlantic Oceans. The Great Lakes are like our own slice of beach paradise and certainly worth the time to visit and soak it in. Praying that you all would be filled with hearts of Thanksgiving in this season and in everyday life as there is so much that the Lord has done for us!
