This 1935-1938 Parker Vacumatic fountain pen, possibly the "Slender" model, in laminated green emerald DuPont pearlescent celluloid, was a gift from Peter Beck, restored per advice by the Fountain Pen Shop's Fred P. Krinke. Stuart Hawkinson replaced the missing "jewel": the laminated celluloid cone secured by the metal "tassie ring" at the end of the barrel. I went to Greg Minuskin to re-tip the broken nib, which is a specialty of his, but ended up asking him to also take the next step, overall restoration. Three days later he emailed a summary: "New diaphragm installed in your Parker Vacumatic, light polish up to the cap and barrel, and the all important retip is now done to factory looking spec’s. Even re-plated your nib for you in the correct two tone pattern, no extra charge!"

This pendant shimmers with a mokume gane blend of black, pearl and silver leaf that complements white pearlescent mica shift. Look into the white portion of this large double-sided pod and you will see a pattern of intersecting lines. A stirling silver bail and chain complete the glamorous sophistication.
spray-painted Lutrador in 2 layers, heated pearlescent gold flecks, 2 layers of netting; a heart of angelina sheets (3 colors) with angelina fibers (3 colors) on top , sticky-back speckled paper glued down; stitched and embellished with a little metal purse that was painted with alcohol ink. Whew.

Immature male in the River Thames photographed from Gravesend, Kent. The pearlescent greyish tones rather than pure white/cream show this to be an immature animal and while I didn't get a view of its masculinity, others apparently have! The sharp low back ridge that hints at a dorsal fin discarded by evolution shows very dark and this colour can be retained throughout the animal's life.
It appears fit and healthy and has been seen catching fish, though the Thames appeared too murky for me to see such detail.
A fabulous encounter that lasted well over an hour!
