Alpaca, 13" tall. Locline armature, open/close eyes, polar bear cub. He will be having a visit on the bay starting Sunday.
A "war" of sorts went on between the years 1865 and 1870 in which the Ute Tribe (and other Native American allies) attempted to drive the Mormons from the Ute traditional homelands. Mounted Ute raiding parties, often joined by Navajos, attacked ranches and settlements and killed settlers who interfered with the raids.
This fort was built as a sentry post, its purpose to attack and delay the Indians while a rider raced to the settlements with a warning.
Good times for all...
Ladies Day at Royal Ascot always attracts a good number of visiting coaches with 2019 proving to be no exception. Examples of bodywork by Berkhof, Beulas, BMC, Bova, Caetano, Higer, Irizar, Jonckheere, Kassbohrer, King Long, Lahden, Marcopolo, Mercedes-Benz, Mobipeople, Neoplan, Plaxton, Scania, Setra, Sunsundegui, Temsa, Unvi, VDL, Van Hool, Volvo and Yutong kept the camera busy. My shots were taken in and around the various coach parks used on the Thursday.
Decided to try a farmer's bridge (containing a right of way footpath) over the M40 today (25/01/2025) for some sunny shots of the Oxford services and football traffic (Everton were travelling to Brighton).
All went well until our presence on the bridge was challenged by a rather irate member of the adjacent farm who couldn't believe I was standing up to her when she demanded we clear off. Unsurprisingly, it wasn't long before the big man arrived and after some in-depth explaining seemed satisfied our intentions weren't threatening. He even waved as he passed us again.
Anyway, drama aside, around 15 coaches from Merseyside passed us, plus a trio of Parry's and countless Tubes and Airlines.
Pearces Private Hire of Berinsfield, Oxfordshire, was established in 1970. The family-run firm has regularly invested in new coaches and has a simple but easily recognisable livery using a distinctive shade of yellow and brown. In early 2025 the operator was acquired by Go-Ahead who already own Oxford Bus and more recently Pulham's Travel.
In May 2025, shortly after the takeover, a pair of Temsa HD13 C57FLT coaches arrived (OU25 & OX25BUS - initially as YJ25CSO/U). In late May, the opportunity was taken to take OX25BUS for a mini photoshoot in and around Oxford.

Buses and coaches from local operators frequently feature quite prominently in 'Inspector Morse', which is of course set in and around Oxford. In one episode, Morse and Lewis went on a day trip on this coach operated by Pearces, who have a smart modern fleet that is regularly updated but somewhat varied.
