Around 160 coaches came to Wembley today (18/05/2024) for the EFL League 1 Play Off Final between Bolton Wanderers and Oxford United. Here are some of those that caught my eye.
Twelve years later then the previous photo I snapped this nice International for Pearce Trucking sitting across the street from where the Cal Inland was taken in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 23,1999.
The final launch of the RNLB Andy Pearce in Llandudno. Volunteer crew led the lifeboat through the town for the last time after 27 years of service.
Also brings to an end to the 156 year old practice of lifeboats being taken through a towns streets to their launch site.
KM & MG Pearce started trading in June 1978 as Claverham Coaches from premises in Claverham Road , Yatton , later becoming KM & D Pearce in 1985. The Pearce family had traded from the premises since 1927 when Frank Pearce bought YC37. The operator's licence was finally surrendered in 2011 , but no vehicles were recorded in the current millenium , the yard being used by various other operators. It is now a housing estate.
A two tone blue livery seems to have been adopted initially because several coaches came from Wiltshires of Staple Hill. This later developed into white with two tone blue stripes as seen here on XGR445V. This was the last photo I took of one of Pearce's coaches, taken in August 1989 in Anchor Road , Bristol.
XGR445V was a Ford R1114 / Plaxton Supreme IV C53F new in May 1980 to Browning, Darlington. It was later with Bryn Melyn of Llangollen from November 1992.

Window in the south aisle by William Pearce, 1916.
St Denys's church in Evington sits in a fairly rural setting on the edge of the village (which itself nowadays sits on the outer fringe of Leicester's suburban sprawl). It is a mainly 14th century building with a simple west tower and spire and some elaborately traceried windows in the north aisle (that at the west end is unusually ornate for such an inconspicuous position). Later alterations are apparent with the chancel, which is clearly a Victorian rebuilding, whilst from the south side of the church a glazed annex leads to modern parish rooms built in the early 21st century.
Within the church is spacious and well kept and also enlivened by some interesting glass, the chancel east window having an unusual design of angels around an ornamental cross, whilst in the south aisle some rich Victorian medallions compete with a vibrant early 20th century window with St Michael at its centre. The most significant pieces here however are the surviving 14th century traceries in some of the north aisle windows which include censing angels and heraldry.
I was made welcome here by the kindly people on duty and one gentleman drew my attention to the new glass installations in the recent extension, escorting me further into the function rooms to make sure I didn't miss another piece in there. I hope I didn't cause any offence when I edged back to the door after a few minutes, such moments can get a bit awkward when time is limited (especially ride and stride day as planned itineraries get harder to fulfil with each passing hour and only one day when so many churches are open).
I particularly liked St Denys, a lovely church which isn't likely to be open outside of services, but well worth a look if one is lucky enough to find otherwise.
This is my very first time I've ever shot a bike. I just applied the same rules as I would a car shoot to the bike & hoped for the best.
More experienced bike photographers are welcome to give me some pointers. :)
Colonel Mosh Pearce (A character I made up using parts from actual charatcer names) Was a Colonel in the Imperial Navy during the Early Rebellion against the Empire and later the Galactic Civil War. Pearce was stationed aboard the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer, Persecutor, above Scarif and later took part in defending the planet from the Rebel Alliance's attack to try and steal the Death Star plans. After the Persecutor was completely disabled by a rebel attack run, the Captain of the Star Destroyer, Brunson, ordered her crew to evacuate, as she realised the danger they were in. After all the escape pods had been launched, Colonel Pearce found himself in the same pod as Captain Brunson, along with 3 Stormtroopers as they were launched into space. however, during the launch, their pod was hit by stray debris, which sent them towards Scarf's surface.....
