Pay It Forward is a collaborative, experimental fundraiser between Autotelic {Studios} and Sixty Inches From Center. We are experimenting with the idea of paying it forward to other organizations who are doing wonderful things for artists across the city. We will be donating 20% of our fundraising total and other gifts to eight Chicago-based projects that are doing great things and have been big supporters of what we do. For every dollar you donate, you will not only be supporting Autotelic and Sixty, but you will be helping to support an endless number of artists who have a hand in building a thriving arts community in our city.

See the cow spots painted on the side of this Country Store on the main drag in Webster, NH. This store or its spots no longer exists - went out of business in 2008,

This day also started my attempts to photograph with the express purpose of creating a then original painting from the photograph. A project I've started as part of a New Years resolution to "Pay it Forward".
I wanted to take some nice, proper portraits of "Local Heroes". People who serve the community and probably don't get as much recognition as they should.
Firefighters back home are a big part of the community, and while they may not shout it from the rooftops like some of our American neighbours, I like to think that the public do the shouting for them.
So these are the shots from the Blue Watch of Preston Park Firehall. What started out as a bunch of guys not being to sure about having their picture (or mug shot) taken, ended up being an afternoon of laughs and stories.
Most of them had never had their picture taken outside of the odd party or "mug shot" for the department. By the end of it all, they'd asked me to come back to take portraits of the other three watches, including a nice one of a fellow who's retiring this year.
I've got to stress, this was purely for the love of it, and the desire to give back something to the people in the community who give to us on a daily basis.

This little bird (a White-Throated Sparrow) must have hit one of the windows in the back of the house and landed on our back deck last month. He was stunned and had been resting under the deck railing for a short time when he emerged and I captured this shot. I felt bad he was like this, but he was OK since he flew off a short while later.
