This boy was dancing to the music of the Ansanga Marimba Ensemble at Richmond Beach at a noon concert. During a brief break in the music the adults clapped and the boy paused, waiting for the music to begin again.

Another image from my Tough Guy series. This individual was pausing for breath beofre the next and final leg of the tough guy course. Shot with a Nikon D2x and 70-200mm lens. Processed in CS4, mainly dodging and bruning.

Many of the old railroads are so long abandoned that there's no public access to reach them. This is the case with much of the former North Mountain Railway, crossing Kings County from Centreville to Weston, till the tracks were pulled in 1961. But you can always track a stream through the wild forest, and I often do so to get where I'm going. This concrete culvert carries the water of Illsley Brook, a little trickle I followed from Highway 221. It was a near-nightmare of a hike. I was scratched head to toe with wild roses, slipped in the mud, punched in the face by branches. Off and on, I had to pause to keep from screaming in frustration. You can only duck and weave so long without fracturing your sanity. It's a trip I'd highly recommend against. But when I think there's a chance of seeing some sliver of human history, I've easily endured worse. This 1913 tunnel ran under train traffic for just forty-eight years, and it's now been derelict for sixty-four. Eventually, it'll crack, crumble and wash out the railbed with it. I'm unlikely to ever revisit, but now I'm tangibly connected to whoever comes after. Maybe that's no one at all.

Pause is a small music festival supporting Music, DJ's, Street Artists, Designers, fashion, etc. Very cool event, glad to be a part of it.
I stopped for a minute in the middle of my running around today to take this shot and it actually felt good to pause and take a minute to breathe and to just be. It's a really busy weekend, it's our family reunion weekend.
