Great vintage pattern from the 1970's -- includes patterns for a simple dress (with or without sleeves), wide leg pants and tunic.
Pattern from Butterick company, there's no date, but the styles look like the '70's. Pattern is labeled for size 14, a 36 inch bust. UNCUT.
1. The location of this photo was taken in my home in the family room. It is a window that faces the west side of our house with an adjacent, enclosed porch. I would have preferred to venture outdoors for my photos, but the limitations of my foot issue deterred me from walking in snow.
2. The challenges I encountered were choosing a pattern photo and the settings on my camera. I contemplated making a pattern, but eventually decided on the window.
3. My choice of orientation was a fairly easy decision. Chapter 6 in our book states that shooting a photo vertically will most often help eliminate clutter and unnecessary distractions. Ironically, in this photo, it was most beneficial to eliminate clutter by taking it horizontally. Plus, I wanted to capture the majority of my pattern which was accomplished by the horizontal position. It is interesting to note that vertical photos tend to signify vitality and active forces, while horizontal photos represent calm and serenity. I think these photos were a little tougher to invoke these types of responses.
4. The problems I encountered with all of my photos was striving for the best shot in regards to lighting, composition and learning all that my camera can or cannot do. I tried taking this photo standing on the carpet and standing on a chair, horizontally and vertically. I chose standing on a chair and horizontally because it was the best shot to eliminate distractions such as other windows in my porch, an unsightly hook hanging from the porch ceiling and the walls of my porch. I really wanted the attention drawn mostly to the beautiful, prism and lead glass pattern in the window.
5. I chose this as my best photo because I thought the prisms in the glass gave an interesting dimension to the porch ceiling. The prisms created a fascinating depth of field with my ceiling that I did not catch until the photo was downloaded onto my computer. The illusion that my porch ceiling goes on forever was really quite interesting to me. Technically, I feel that I captured three assignments in one in this photo. It displays several patterns with squares, triangles and another geometrical shape, but it also presents lines in the window and the ceiling. The smoothness of the glass window and the lead adjoining the prisms gives the illusion of physical texture, but I think would fall in the category of visual texture because of its smooth flat surface. However, I do really like my texture photo which displays a close up shot of a 12 point buck hanging on our wall (I didn’t shoot it). You can actually see the bark that is rubbed into its horns and the contrasting coarse hair. On my lines photo, I really like how the snow emphasizes the lines of our neighbor’s porch and the angle of the snow next to the lattice.
Umm, the weather patterns. There is such a lack of weather patterns this year, it's kind of crazy.
Last Tuesday, it was 10℃ and everyone was so happy. But then Wednesday came around, and we had a crazy snow storm. I took this photo leaving campus because the snowstorm was so bad, they let us off at 1pm, and cancelled classes for the rest of the day. The next day, temperatures dropped to almost -25℃ with the wind chill. Crazy.
Canadians are really waiting for spring... as much as we all love snow, I think we've had enough.
Looking for some green!
Also, the next few photos for Project 52 will be from my iPhone because my beautiful camera is currently in the process of being repaired. I feel so empty without it, but my iPhone is dying of battery quicker than usual! Lol.
PS. Don't the trees look so majestic? I think my campus looks best during the winter, because there are so many trees everywhere.
PPS. I've got a crazy two weeks coming up. One month and 9 days to go till I'm free, and finished undergrad. The race to the finish! But before that, I've got three presentations, two midterms, four exams, a lab report, two term papers, and one essay. Wow, now that I wrote that out, I can begin freaking out.
SCHOOL. Period.
Lol cheers!

A pattern on the bag of someone in front of me. She said that she'd just bought it from one of the festival stalls.
The skulls look pretty cheerful, considering.
These are some shower curtain hooks I recently replaced because one got broken. Also, I haven't used my 50mm lens at its wide open aperture setting in a while, so I wanted to remind myself of what it could do.
Inspired by this shot, but not as well executed.

Build with Friends
With simulated physics and gravity, Patterns offers a new twist on 3D multi-player sandbox building games. Create your very own 3D universe, complete with powerful crafting tools, surprising shapes (triangles, anyone?), crazy creatures and even explorable planets.
Harvest and build with friends a variety of substances including ice that slides, fruit that bounces and materials that levitate. Whether you're building bridges to traverse chasms or towers that reach high into the sky, Patterns is your universe to shape.
Share your Creations
Invite friends and explore with the new multi-player option. Put your imagination and ingenuity to the test as you and your friends create simple or complex structures from elemental substances. Your formations may result in unexpected behaviors -- some creations will fall, while others may orbit. 1. Remove sleeve before making the FBA. Then following the standard Palmer/Pletsch method. For this coat I didn't want to make a big FBA. So I cut two sizes larger on the side and under arm seam. The FBA was only 1".
I have plenty of room to add a cardigan or jacket as the days grow colder.
