St Patrick, Patrington, East Yorkshire
Stuck out on the Holderness peninsula, Patrington is probably the least known and least visited of the twenty or so best parish churches in England.
Pevsner said that for sheer architectural beauty, few parish churches in England can vie with Patrington. It is not only its size... it is a unity of exterior and a unity of interior with a calm perfection in each which one never ceases to admire.
Simon Jenkins, who made it one of his 18 five star churches in England, said it is queen of the finest era of English Gothic, the final flowering of the Decorated style in the early 14th century before the Black Death. If a single creator was responsible for this church, he ranks among the masters of English art.
On a Sunday afternoon in late October, I spent an hour exploring this church, and in all this time I was surprised that not a single other person came in. On leaving, I signed the visitors book, and discovered that I was the first person there for four days.
The dedication is a romantic Victorian back-naming based on the Saxon origin of the parish, which actually has nothing to do with St Patrick.

Limerick celebrated in style and colour as around 4,000 participants marched down the city’s main street (O’Connell Street) for the annual St Patrick’s Day parade.
The inclement weather failed to dampen the spirits of the estimated 50,000 people who cheered and encouraged the almost 100 different community and theatre groups, companies, sports clubs and bands who entertained the spectators along the route.

Patrick is a gorgeous English Pointer. He was looking so cute on top of his dog house, but wouldn't get back up there when I started taking his picture.
