The beautiful calligraphy in our welcome pack set the tone for the week. We immersed ourselves wholeheartedly in grown up play time.
The page on the right was created with molding paste spread through a stencil. When dry, I swiped it with a versamark inkpad and embossed it with gold embossing powder.

Shrimp paste features heavily in Nyonya cooking, from curries to dips. Made from salted, fermented tiny shrimp (geragu) and sold in blocks, belacan possesses an overpowering smell. Belacan is the basis for a spicy, pungent condiment called sambal belacan without which no Nyonya meal is complete.
May 1, 2023. These are my new favourite flavours, one a paprika paste, and the other a pepper-tomato paste (I think), both from Hungary. I use them with my salmon-pasta soup, and it's out0-of-this-world delicious. Now that my projects have concluded, I can soend my NRC time on more ordinary researcher type things. Like, for example, today spent a good part of the day writing a blog post on openness. I'll be doing more things like that in the future.
