Mowich Lake, Mt. Rainier National Park, at golden hour.
Can it get better than views like this? This was a busy trailhead with lots of cars and people behind me, mostly ignoring the scene as they are returning from their day's hike and packing up for the drive home.
A downpour of rain with thunder and lightening had passed over about an hour before this shot. Hard to believe that it could become so calm and clear so quickly.
This is one of the first photos that I decided to print large. I signed it and gave it to my best friend. A few years later I talked him into hiking up to Mowich Lake in the winter. I'm surprised he is still my friend!

Once upon a time, a Passionate Soul slipped through a crack, out of her universe into another's...
I am so glad I found this - it's been lost for a few years. It's from the poem I wrote one day after being in my garden for most of the day. It had been such magical day that I came in, sat down at my computer and this poem wrote itself. Out of it came Antonia of Venice - honestly... just somehow! I think I'll do a series on the whole poem.

Hypnagogic
Hypnopompic
Definition: visual, tactile, auditory experience, a brief dream state or wakeful sensory events that may occur at the transition from wakefulness to sleep (hypnagogic), or from sleep to wakefulness (hypnopompic).
Parallelism, a valuable approach dealing with unwanted matters I learned from a friend.
Two may like the same things but for some reasons dislike each other.
Instead of getting stressed wasting time arguing and fighting, just totally ignore one another and have your worlds exist but on parallel sides of the universe.
Try the 30 day free-trial! LOL
I am not always of this world. My mind takes sojourns through parallel universes. Often. It's how I stay sane.
I meet some of my friends in those parallel universes, too.
Some of those friends are poets, or writers, or painters, or nature lovers. Most are photographers.
Some are really quirky, some are very funny, some are very stern, some are very fresh, some are very annoying, some are very loveable, but all are very dear. To me.
If you are one of my friends, whom I meet with in one of my parallel universes, there is no need for me to say who you are. You just know.
But if you are not, then please allow me to share this dream vision of a flower. It was once just a lowly white petunia, but now it is majestic, a queen of the flowers. For it has been born of the mists of a parallel world.
Takes imagination to find the doorway. But once inside, the trip is magical.

Why i made it so contrasty you said ?
Are you blind ?
You say white, i say black.
You say God, i say God ?????
You go straight, i turn.
You go up, i go down.
You throw your food, i am starving.
You drive, i walk.
I drink champaign, you don't have water.
I fly, you are crawling.
I have, you don't.
I listen, you hear.
I hate, you love.
I take, you give.
You think, i know.
You see, i observe.
You believe, i reject.
I sell, you buy.
I search, you found.
I break, you make.
You live to die, i would die to live.
I don't exist.
You don't exist either.
I walked through you the other day.
We live in the same planet, but in a Parallel Universe.
You say Good Morning, i say Fuck you.
I spit you in the face, you say Thank you.
You killed your self and now what ?
(End-Ranting)
I had in mind of uploading something else, but i am very pissed off today.

Practical Evanescence
I was feeling as though my day to day life lacked meaning.
As was often the case at such times I decided to go for a drink alone to think things over. I was not alone for long. I met a man in the bar. He told me that he had met another man in the same bar under similar circumstances. He told me that the man had passed on valuable knowledge. That this knowledge had helped him when he needed to evaluate his life. That the stranger had done this for the price of a drink and then disappeared.
I pride myself on not easily being taken for a fool. I had a good feeling about this man. He had a sincere look in his eyes, like one who had gained wisdom, perhaps at some cost to his peace of mind.
I bought him a beer.
We talked for what seemed like a long time but immediately he had gone I consulted my watch to find that time had barely moved on. As we talked he told me what he had learned from the man he had met in this very same bar. As we talked I became aware of music playing quietly in the background, Bach's suite for unaccompanied cello. The recording sounded old and distant but quite beautiful. I recall no other sound but that of my acquaintances voice. He spoke in the form of a series of instructions. What he told me was a revelation. My humdrum life changed from that moment.
When he finished speaking he disappeared.
If we, you and I, should ever meet in a bar I will be willing to pass on that knowledge imparted to me by the stranger. For the price of a beer.

I've tried to capture something slightly surreal in this, but also with a kind of underlying metaphor. One man appears to be walking towards himself, the other is walking away.

“Being unable to cure death, wretchedness, and ignorance men have decided,
in order to be happy, not to think about such things.”-Blaise Pascal,

“If we find ourselves with a desire that nothing in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that we were made for another world.”

“Imagine yourself as a living house. God comes in to rebuild that house. At first, perhaps, you can understand what He is doing. He is getting the drains right and stopping the leaks in the roof and so on; you knew that those jobs needed doing and so you are not surprised. But presently He starts knocking the house about in a way that hurts abominably and does not seem to make any sense. What on earth is He up to? The explanation is that He is building quite a different house from the one you thought of – throwing out a new wing here, putting on an extra floor there, running up towers, making courtyards. You thought you were being made into a decent little cottage: but He is building a palace. He intends to come and live in it Himself.”

The left and the right live in parallel universes. The right listens to talk radio, the left's on the Internet and they just reinforce one another. They have no sense of reality. I have now one ambition: to retire before it becomes essential to tweet. [Barney Frank]
