360 Parallax servo gear interfacing with Robot Zone reduction gear. 360 Parallax servos have a null zone so the rig does not creep as manually modified servos will tend to do.

since we've been getting back into the running game, we've been making frequent trips to a local "trail" that's a paved over railroad track. the upside is that it's flat, straight and lacking hills. the downside is that it's flat, straight and lacking hills.
Something I came across while reading. And deciding to try it out on a single image.

This installation involves two primary components: mirrors on yolks and a varied fragmented reflective object. By aiming one or many of the mirrors at the fragmented object, viewers activate the sculpture with sunlight, causing moving reflections to appear in the shaded area around the fragmented object.
The parallax of this installation revolves around the duality of individuals giving and receiving. By aiming one of the Minute of Parallax mirrors, activating the installation with sunlight, one is gifting viewers near the fragmented object with light. This universal gift is fleeting though, due to the rotation of the earth. After roughly a minute, the mirrors would no longer be in tune with the fragmented object, and require readjusting to continue streaming sunlight at the shaded area. The elements of nature are amplified and accentuated, challenging the viewer to connect with one another through light and wind, as well as the visualization and beauty of nature that is often overlooked in an urban setting.

Setup with the Parallax rings destined for the DSI RC10C. STL-11K on back of the 3" Optec TCF-S3 focuser. Added 14.5 lbs of new counterweight to offset the imminent DSI. The Meade OTA in the rings weighs in at 36 lbs with the DM-10 dovetails.

This is my little prototype device that I'm using to talk to a WPF app. You can see a video of the application in action also see my blog post
The ice cream is from Mitchell's. It's a local ice cream producer with a good reputation. Obviously not enough people have tried Woo City.
I only had 3 10-element bargraph LEDs, which is 30, 2 less than the target 32-bit display, but as this idea is easily scalable, it wasn't necessary to see all 32 bits in action to know it was a sound idea. I stopped at 24, a multiple of the 8 bits I'm using in the second counting portion.
Some of my original designs for a counter got elaborate and silly, like the one before this that wanted 5 18-pin ICs, and one 16-pin hex inverter IC. I thought about the problem some more last night, and realized that the chip I've been trying to use for this idea, due to its simplicity, and seemingly perfect fit for the idea, could be used in a different way. I'm speaking of the 4017 decade counter/divider, which has 10 output pins that are mutually exclusive highs - only one can be on at a time. By pulsing the clock pin, the current pin turns off, and the next in the sequence turns on, and so on in a loop through all 10. There's also an active-high reset pin, which means you can plug any of the outputs into the reset to have it reset the instant you get to that number, so it can be a 2, 5, 6, 8, etc. counter, too.
Parallax inevitable with so many objects close to the camera!
Unexpectedly luxurious compared to the public huts, which basically have only sleeping platfoms and a table in them. Also had indoor long-drop composting toilets, wash room, another identical section as this, and a "fridge" (wire mesh protected enclosure exposed to the snow). Has 22 actual matresses, but obviously room for many more if you brought your thermarest.
The University of Tsukuba, Japan is the star of the 2011 Campus Exhibition. This institution of higher education has long been associated with the festival, and numerous works developed there or created by its alumni have been showcased at Ars Electronica.
