A pair of NS geeps are in charge on a short NS 323 today as it rolls along the Dunfee siding during winter storm "Ion."
This is for all the people out west that have been baking in the record heat.
The Cinco de Mayo bush was victimized by the bunnies when I first planted, but some short fencing has fended them off. Now I just have to worry about fungi and insects.
Pair of Barn Owls from a site in Durham. Photo taken at 6.00am returned 2 hours later Owls gone to be replaced by 12+ Jackdaws. Seen this happen at other Barn Owl and Little Owl sites. Then Owls sometimes return later in day when Jackdaws have left.
A pair of drake Hooded Mergansers (Lophodytes cucullatu) cruise by as a bunch of Wigeons catch a nap
Rajah shelduks are found in Australia and New Guinea. They pair up for life. I am told that if one of them dies the other one will also die.
Two mute swans landing in sync. Recently 5 new mute swans arrived at the park. The one in front is a juvenile, followed by an adult. Quite impressive birds with a wing span above 2 meters (Monrepos-2019-5230.jpg)

Golden Russet Bosc, from, South Africa,
The Beurré Bosc or Bosc is a cultivar of the European pear (Pyrus communis), originally from France or Belgium. Also known as the Kaiser, it is grown in Europe, Australia, British Columbia and Ontario, Canada, and the U.S. states of California, Washington, and Oregon.
The Beurré Bosc was cultivated first in Belgium or France. The name Bosc is given after a French horticulturist named Louis Bosc, and "Beurré" means "buttery," referring to the fruit's soft, juicy texture.
A pair of SCT's EMD GT46C-ACe, SCT014 & SCT011 have passed the spectacular mesas at Wirrappa and are now attacking the sweeping curves and grade up to Pimba with westbound 7MP9 on October 3, 2021. One of Australia's heaviest general freight trains is captured in the vast tree-less landscape from the formation of the old Stuart Highway.

I managed to get out to the Pond [Lake] last week. It was a very dull day, but made a welcome change to the rain and high winds we've been getting lately.
There were plenty of ducks, gulls and geese around plus a pair of swans and this pair of white doves.
I've never seen any white doves over there before, so this was a nice surprise and they stayed put for me too.
When I got back home I decided to look doves up on line as I know nothing about them. Most results seemed a bit disparaging about them and called them pigeons. Well, I suppose they are of the pigeon family but to me they are so much more distinctive.
Anyway - I know pigeons can be seen as a nuisance, but I read somewhere that people's perception of them changes for the better when they find out how useful and stoic homing pigeons were during the war and they were even awarded medals - so there!
Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) pair in an amorous state prior to breeding. There were periods of gentle contact intermixed with biting along the neck of the female. Interesting behaviour to observed.
This took place during a guided trip to the K'tzim-a-deen Grizzly Bear Sanctuary in the Khutzeymateen Inlet along the west coast north of Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada.
The inlet is about a 30 minute flight by float plane, north of Prince Rupert. The tour of 6 wildlife photographers (including myself) was 5 days long and run by Ocean Light II Adventures. We stayed at the entrance of the reserve in a 72 ft sail boat (Ocean Light II) and accessed the reserve daily in a 19 ft Zodiac and spent most of the day looking for grizzly bear activity.
Our guide was amazed at the number of times we encountered this mating behaviour. He indicated that it was quite unusual to see this many breeding encounters as the bears tended to be more secretive in his past experiences.

This was taken at a rookery at High Island, Texas. There were several species of water birds mating there, one of the most amazing places I've ever seen in my life. This pair was so beautiful to watch.

Instantly recognizable cockatoo, the Galah is familiar throughout most of the continent. The individual in focus is a female, while the male is perched behind her on this farm gate.
Violet is the most soothing, tranquilizing and cooling color vibration. It encourages the healing of unbalanced mental conditions in people who are overly nervous or high-strung. Foods of the violet vibration are: purple broccoli, beetroot and purple grapes. ~Tae Yun Kim

It is nice to find a male Wood Duck, and even nicer to find a pair of Woodies. They were resting up, getting ready for their flight south.
Acorn Woodpeckers with the female higher up and the male lower down, Mt. Shasta, California. She was the one making the racket this time.
This time a shot of a pair of males. Peafowl of either sex are often referred to as Peacocks though the females are called Peahens. These terrestrial feeders nest on the ground, but roost in trees.
