A pair of oystercatchers had chosen the top of a wall surrounding the car park at Lunna Kirk to lay their two eggs.

Time for another gurlie-purdy-picture.
And where does the time go... especially when you've got your mind conditioned to ignor how badly the layers of dust have been piling up.
It is that time again... time for the powers that be from the Housing Authority to come out and do their anual inspection of my house. Honestly, they don't give two hoots about when was the last time I vacuumed... and let's don't even go there, lol. All they really care about is seeing that everything is in good working order before my lease is re-upped. Still, right now I am more of a basket case than I normally am... and between now and Monday afternoon, when my appointment is set for, I seriously am going to have to back away from the computer... and do my best to get the place looking all spiffy. Can't wait for them to see how great my yard is looking this year... not that they care, but I'm pretty darned proud of it!!!
And now...
I really must get going....
So much to do, so little time...

Today was a very rainy and windy day in Baden-Würtemberg. Was able to catch this pair of sparrows on our shopping tour in Stuttgart. They were sitting on a bench and waiting for food to drop by :-)
These delightful squirrels caught my eye as the car drove passed in a country lane. I wound down the window and kept clicking away. I was not driving the car so quite safe to stop and observe this pair.The little one swung under the branch and nearly fell off. The larger female kept biting and hugging gently.I thought the little one was a juvenile, but not sure. Eventually she walked away and the smaller one followed after looking at us too. ;) No cropping or adjusting on this image. SOC. :)

A pair of Egyptian Geese pose conveniently at the London Wetland Centre, in Barnes, and not far from Hammersmith.
These are an introduced species and I treat them as common in the south of England. However, in the north that is not the case.
It's also quite likely that their chicks will be the first ones I see in the year as the Egyptian Goose seems to breed during most months.

The male leaves the nest while the Mrs looks on. They have been sitting on eggs for about two weeks. By mid-March we'll be looking for behavior that may show that they have had chicks. Fingers crossed (for the twelfth time)

I've been chasing butterflies for five years. This year, the weather and loss of habitat contributed to an exceptionally difficult year for many insects, but monarchs in particular. I had not seen but a handful all summer. Then, during the monarch migration, I found six nectaring on a small patch of flowers in our downtown garden. I took several hundred photos, but this one of a female/male pair most captured their delicate beauty and majesty.
66.6% of the GTLM field in one photo, and if you look real closely, the third car, the #4 Corvette, is visible between the two that are in focus.

The Wheeling & Lake Erie's pair of DRG&W SD40T-2's scream through Bolivar with a GMTX GP38-2 third out for the Markwest plant at Hopedale. They're leading train 214-30 through the rain having no problem with 2,900 foot of empty LPG tanks behind them.
A pair of Stellers atop of the harbour wall at the fishing port of Rausu,what you can`t see is there are about 100 birds all along this wall,watching for the boats coming and going,on this particular day the sea really picked up so not many boats were leaving the shelter of the harbour so the birds were keeping an eye out for fish being passed out in the calmer waters of the harbour.
