This photo is part of an ongoing project to film the magnificent trees at Squaw Valley, CA. Squaw Valley is an iconic American Ski resort that hosted the 1960 Winter Olympics.

There are many magnificent and gnarly dead trees at the resort, this one is is in the middle of a massive boulder where it is slowly socumbimg to the transformative power of the seasons.

I am filming the trees is both digital and analog, I find that I enjoy the analog process more, although both types of images have their appeal I find I usually like the film images more.

The Candelária Church (Portuguese: Igreja da Candelária) is an important historical church in the city of Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. It was built and decorated during a long period (1775 to the end of the 19th century) and combines a Baroque façade with a Neoclassical and Neo-Renaissance inner decoration.wikipedia.

good morning and thank you for all your last feedback

yes - things are going to be more disappointing from day to day. i spend this night and followed the discussions in the threads.

... actually not really discussions because most of the very very late 'response' from flickr-staff here and there was more like putting oil on the flames instead of giving some answers ...

especially not giving any explanation why switzerland and austria are still handled as if they were a part of 'the german problem' and why they have to join with the id .de ...

i feel ashamed for flickr for such a bad manner of acting !

too much did happen for me since yahoo owns flickr (think about china again) and i fear to imagine all what will happen if rupert murdoch will own a quarter of yahoo ...

it's good to see how creative and persistent our prostest is but the 'house-flickr' has broken windows. and it seems more and more are bricked instead of renewed with fresh clear glasses.

in this situation i have no sense for making lovely curtains and for putting flowers on the windowsill ...

when all this f*...ing censor thing started i hoped at least for a belated acceptable statement from flickr-staff at an official place (blog or press release) - but NOTHING since more than a week ! i still can't believe so much ignorance.

and although i belong to the kind of people who don't give up if they see a tiny chance to change things - i don't want to concentrate all my engergy, creativity and love in this fight against stupidness and ignorance.

the last days made it clearer than ever for me: it's you my friends why i'm here ! all the humour and inspirations and kindness and friendship ... all your works and ideas and feedback and not at last the laughing and also having sad mood together ...

i don't care about explore and 'numbers' and all this crap !

and i will speak about such things just for a last time

i'm here since two years - i posted more than 2000 pictures - got more than 100 000 views at my pictures - almost 1000 people made me to their contact (most of them without any comment or something else) ...

but when i look at the number of almost 20000 comments i made myself and the unpayable treasurebox with more than 8000 impressing, exciting and wonderful 'red-star-pictures' ... not to speak about all your thoughtfull, kind and often madsweetcrazy silly feedback - i feel thanksfull and happy ... but you know that :)

everybody of you opened a new door for me and some of you became and are dear close friends ...

and even the word 'flickr' had a special magic for me - that's silly, i know ... :))

i write this all because i want to explain you the background of my personal decision.

the only - really the only reason not to leave flickr today and to cancel my account is you my friends who will stay here and that i don't want to loose you as persons and that i don't want to miss all your pictures.

but i have to do something before i loose all my humour and creativity here and fall into depression or blind enragement.

instead of leaving flickr, i made all my public pictures *only visible for friends*.

is this a kind of 'censorship' now ?? i don't know ... but i appologize myself at all contacts or visitors from outside that they can't make their own decision about what they want to see.

please don't mind if this 'open letter' sounds a bit confusing ... i'm still 'fighting' hard with the english language and that's why i need soooo many words :)

and thank you scott and julia for your 'great grey-box-thing' ! i fear my personal 'grey-box' is made of concrete at the moment ... i'm even not able to join this gorgeous idea ...

thank you for everything

i'm looking forward to see you here or there or in the mailbox

Koan XIV - NANSEN’S CAT-KILLING

Once, when the monks of the Western and Eastern Halls were quarrelling about a cat. Nansen, holding up the cat, said, “You monks ! If (any of) you can speak (a word of Zen) I will spare the cat, otherwise I will kill it!” No one could answer, so Nansen killed it.

In the evening, Joshu came back from somewhere, and

Nansen told him what had happened. Joshu thereupon took off his shoe, put it on his head, and walked off. Nansen said, “If only you had been there, I could have saved the cat!”.
