Thought I might get a few local panos in before the tourists arrive in a week or so. This one taken at low tide.
'Sydney Sandspit' is a favourite for people not just from Sydney, - boaties, paddleboarders, families and sunbakers all flock to this piece of paradise in their droves over the summer holiday break. It's an easy swim across the channel from this boardwalk or from the old ferry landing however there are lots of hire boat hire operators nearby who will cheaply and easily get you high and dry onto Miles Island, Sydney Sandspit, or onto any number of the myriad of other beautiful sand islands dotted throughout Wallis Lake.

This person was ready for the 4th of July a day early. Seen on the Youghiogheny River at Ohiopyle State Park, a great place to see water recreation of all sorts.

Taken on a recent walk along the River Tawe in Swansea. Saw these two ladies enjoying an alternative form of transport!
Not being particularly ornithologically inclined, I can't tell you what kind of birds these are, only that they seemed to be enjoying the Memorial Day surf at:

By early afternoon, they shared the Los Angeles Coast with hundreds of thousands of non-winged bathers (at least, from the traffic, it seemed that many) and a few paddleboarders.
Alright, Chris! I'm going to go with your suggestion that these are likely cormorants. Quick research indicates that cormorants are found in Los Angeles PLUS I found another photo on Flickr (via Google) that purports to be cormorants on just such a rock at El Matador Beach!
[You know, it's kinda sobering that, no matter what you photograph, you can be pretty certain that the same photo is already on Flickr, taken by someone else!]

White Rock’s beaches consist of 8 km (4.9 miles) of sand and warm shallow waters. Among the best beaches in the region, the warm, protected, water of Semiahmoo Bay provides a safe area for swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking. And when the tide goes out, it is a wonderful place to explore tide pools, try your hand at skimboarding, fly a kite or build a sandcastle.
White Rock Beach is divided into “East Beach” and “West Beach”, separated by a rise in the shoreline that the locals call “the hump”. West Beach is home to White Rock’s famous pier, where it’s not uncommon to see people jumping into the deep, warm waters below, or dropping a line to try their luck at crabbing. East Beach tends to be a little quieter and appeals to families looking to spend a relaxing day at the beach building sandcastles and enjoying picnic lunches.

While walking through the forest yesterday I came across a tiny stream. I thought I saw something moving in it - something that definitely wasn't a squirrel or a bird. I quietly moved closer and discovered what had to be a leprechaun (or more likely the Californian or Aussie version of a leprechaun) on a paddleboard! I know they have to grant you a wish if you catch them, so after taking this photo I jumped into the stream and tried to grab him. But just as I did, he disappeared into thin air.
Did I mention I also found some mushrooms on that walk through the forest?

Out with ianbartlett for the day walking along the beach at Pett Level. We walked about 10 miles.
Lots of stand-up-paddleboarders out tonight; Whether standing or kneeling, it looks great fun.
Fuji XF100-400 lens, handheld... Very impressed with this lens.
