The Britannia Electric Lamp Works were based, I think, in London (Park Royal) and appear to have vanished at some point in the 1960s - I wonder who was behind them as they appear to have been founded in the 1920s when the British lamp industry was a rather tight cartel and 'going it alone' wasn't easy. The carton is duly patriotic - Britannia to the fore!
I like the 'parchment charter' and the seal - Britannia Electric Lamp Works!

Quite why I still have a full carton of OMO washing powder/detergent in the house ...
This packet - with ½ lb (half a pound) FREE! - probably dates from the mid-1960s and the packaging represents the typical eye catching design used to ensure that housewives 'saw' the product on the shelf. I recall that many people had their favourite brand and were quite reluctant to change brand loyalty? Lever Brothers apparently registered OMO as a brand name in 1908 and it was one whose formulation must have altered over the years as detergent technology developed. It is no longer available as a UK brand but Unilever still produce it in overseas markets.
The side panel gives an indication of use.

A whimsical package illustration was desired for a new Granola Snack product to create exceptional brand awareness. It needed to look fresh, unique, vibrant and organic in texture and style, and to feel friendly in nature. The background countryside needed to evoke the Oregon Willamette Valley countryside.
An interesting comparison to show the development of the packets of Lux soap flakes between 1905 and 1949 - simplification, the increasing use of bold graphics and the continued general layout and colours used.
An undated advertising leaflet that makes some marvellous claims as to why eating sugar actually helps you slim; it must be so as a "Dietitian" says so.
Tate & Lyle were the dominant UK sugar refiner and producer formed by merger in 1921. In post-WW2 years the company agressively fought what was seen as a proposal to nationalise the industry, along with the British Sugar Corporation that held an effective monopoly over the beet manufacturing of sugar, and as part of this invented the "Mr. Cube" advertising symbol. This leaflet, although undated, feels c.1960 with mention of contemporary athletes and it was slipped inside an early 1960s recipe book.
The outer covers show two of the iconic Tate & Lyle packaging design that was used for many years, this being for their Caster Sugar.

This is a boring shot unless you are a dork like me...
When I used to own/run my design company we had a bookcase in the entryway that displayed some of our packaging design work. Most of those samples are now in a tub in my basement. I know. Tragic, right? I decided to attempt to photograph some of them so I have a permanent record of my work...
The reflections at the top of the bottle really bug me, but not enough to pay a "real" photographer to reshoot this.
