White Haven, Pa. 02-02-2021

After I waited in a steady rain for almost an hour and a half, the R&N OCS exits White Haven tunnel. Minutes before the train arrived a huge ten foot slab of ice peeled off the rock wall and landed on the tracks. When the train struck the ice it exploded into a fine powder which is visible surrounding the locomotive.

15th September 2006 - Bae Systems Nimrod MRA4 ZJ518 formerly a Nimrod MR2 coded XV234 comes in on final approach to Bae systems facility at Warton in Lancashire.

This aircraft first flew on the 12th December 2004 and made its final flight back to Woodford for scrapping after being cancelled by the MOD on 5th March 2010.

A travesty in my humble opinion..

The Canticle of Jonah

(Jonah, 2:3-10)

In my distress, I cried out to the Lord, and he answered me; from the belly of the grave, I cried out, and you have heard my voice!

You have thrown me into the depths, into the heart of the sea, and the waves rushed in on me from all sides.

All your surge and swell have overwhelmed me. And I, I kept saying: I have been rejected from your presence; how will I ever gaze on your temple again?

The waters closed in about me; the depths swallowed me up! Seaweed entwined itself around my head. There, where the mountains begin to grow, I went down into the world beneath, to people who once existed.

But you made my soul rise up from the deep, O Lord, my God! When I felt my strength failing, I remembered the Lord, and my prayer reached you, in your holy temple.

Those who serve nothingness have abandoned their true loyalty.

As for me, I will offer sacrifice to you to the tune of praise. The vow I made, I will keep. All help that saves comes forth from the Lord!

The 1830s Stevens Log House is a fine, intact example of early 19th century village life with few amenities. From this primitive site, its residents observed the great conflict and Confederate occupation of West Middle Street during the Battle of Gettysburg.

This award is given to Ernest and Linda Shriver for their commitment and hard work towards the betterment and beautification of Historic Gettysburg.

The John L. Andrews II Memorial Award of Main Street Gettysburg is presented in recognition of building façade improvements completed in the best interest of historic restoration and preservation.

The penny arch gateway to the Governor Wolf Building in Easton, Pennsylvania.

The Governor Wolf Building is named not after the current governor of Pennsylvania but George Wolf, who was governor nearly two centuries ago. George Wolf was a proponent of free public education in Pennsylvania so this building, which opened as Easton's high school in 1893, was named after him.

The Penny Arch was funded by pennies from school children and is topped with a globe of granite from Wolf's farm in Easton. The building is now an apartment complex.

President's Day weekend in 2016 Grundy and I matched up for a marathon trip that took us to the Pokey staying just ahead of a major blizzard. Long on my to do list was the Juniata Valley's operation out of Lewiston to Maitland. SW9 #446 originally built for the NYC and point in the proper direction worked for me. Another one off the bucket list.
