Winterkill, a term for fish dying under the ice due to a lack of oxygen, is a well-known phenomenon which happens when plants and algae in the water stop producing oxygen due to the lack of sunlight.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to view, comment, and fave my photo. It’s really appreciated. 😊

It's the low temperature of mountain torrential waters that allows them to become saturated with oxygen as they flow over the falls.
They are then home to animals that are major consumers of dissolved oxygen, such as the larvae of a host of insects.
During floods, the torrent abandons the materials it transports. These form banks of gravel, sand and silt, which are then colonized by plants. The vegetation on these banks consumes some of the organic pollution in the water and protects the banks.
It's the atoms of oxygen which are stimulated to create these emerald waves.
A living planet has a green Aurora.
Without plants , without grass, trees, flowers, forests, jungles we would not see this ....

127/365. I am so busy it is crazy!! I have no time to take good conceptual photos anymore:( hopefully I'll be able to this weekend!
A Flickr Friday submission on the topic 'Oxygen". A view of the atmosphere (20% oxygen) from the inside of a plane, pressurised to supply oxygen to its passengers. The two windows also symbolise the the structure of the oxygen molecule (O2).
Chemically and emotionally too reactive, structurally too unstable and frequently corrosive to remain a free and self-sufficient element.
The man really got to me, he is either going out his way or is extremely stupid. He is on oxygen for crying out loud!!!!
My thanks to all of you who stop, look and comment. I will be sure to check out your photostream.

I made some artificial prochlorococcus.
At least half of Earth's oxygen comes from the ocean.
The majority of this production is from oceanic plankton — drifting plants, algae, and some bacteria that can photosynthesize. One particular species, Prochlorococcus, is the smallest photosynthetic organism on Earth.
Ingredients for one glass of artificial prochlorococcus:
soapy water, glitter, a few pieces of plants, salt and green ink.
