i was just playing around with sliders and stuff. it was fun...but i don't love the picture or find it at all realistic. i guess i like the grass.

I've replaced this photo with this overprocessed version...guess i'm over processing it in my head as well. in 411 operator's photo you can see our big leaf maple in the background.
This is the second time that I've tried the Flame and Horsehead Nebulae. Its the first image with my modified D5100. I tried to show more of the faint gas and probably overprocessed it a bit. However, I got the image I wanted and probably won't change it.
Consists of 18 images of 10 minutes each. Taken with my modified D5100 and 120mm Ed scope. Processed in StarTools.
This image contains a number of interesting features. The brightest star in the top left is Alnitak, the left side star in Orion's belt. Just under that star is an area of glowing hydrogen in the shape of a burning bush. Its called the Flame Nebula or NGC 2024.
The largest nebula in this image is the red emission nebula IC434, appearing as a waterfall of ionized hydrogen coming from the top of the image. An intervening cloud of interstellar dust, in the shape of a horse's head, is the famous Horsehead Nebula or B33.
Between the Flame and Horsehead is the smaller blue reflection nebula, NGC 2023, caused by a cloud of fine dust reflecting the light of the central star.

Unfortunate mistake. Farmers' Market Ogden Utah Aug 27, 2022. I shot thison a great day - Kodacolor 400 from 1983. I shot it at EI 200 and then, mistakenly, thought I should adjust again in development and added 20 seconds ... ? The roll was extremely overdeveloped which was extremely disappointing because of the great shots. The negatives were impenetrable. Since I did bleach bypass I went back and washed the film, bleached with potassium ferricyanide for 8 minutes and then fixed again for 8 minutes. The negative came out much clearer, but as you can see with MUCH loss of detail and extremely flat. If my life was at stake, I guess we could say it worked, but most of the interesting stuff is gone.
However after seeing these results and some others, both mine and other folks' I think I'm arriving at with expired color film - adjust the light and compensate for age, etc. And then develop normally. We'll see what I do next.
A junk yard here in Misawa. I tinkered with it and this is what I came up with. I sort of like it. Still trying to mimic actions.
Built 1908 by the American Bridge Co. Using an unusual double-intersection Warren deck truss swing span. ( I looked it up) The rust and peeling paint give this bridge a "natural" overprocessed HDR look.
Adderley area. Maybe overprocessed, but the light seemed right for it that day. At least doesn't go with the image of Birmingham being all rainy and grey, really it's not like that. Unless it's grey and rainy, which hardly ever happens.
yeah yeah - i know Christmas is a long ways away but its my favorite time of year (i wonder why:) The fuzzy leaves reminded me of that fuzzy warm feeling which you get around that time of year.
Anyways here's something to remind people of Christmas in July which is coming right up :) - My way of having fun after a long day today

After my good friend Paul's comments on my HDR yesterday I thought I'd upload a "proper photo" that I hope will be more to his taste. I must admit I prefer it too - must stop myself trying to overprocess everything.
a little overprocessed, this one, but we were up there mid-day so there were no shadows to define anything. Abiquiu Lake down there with Ghost Ranch behind, and the Rockies in Colorado behind that.

As I was walking round Bosham with my partner Brenda I saw a picture in a gallery and this was my interpretation of that picture. I may have overprocessed it a little but I liked the saturation in the flowers and the lovely red in the tiles.
Taken on a trip to Parlee Beach, New Brunswick in fall 2010. This is one of my most popular photos. Sometimes it looks overprocessed to me, which is ironic considering that the only post-processing I did was to adjust the contrast a bit. It rained for most of my trip to New Brunswick, but on this particular afternoon I was blessed with an ominous sky and some amazing light.

This was really just a bunch of experimentation. More modification of the orton effect. Included an inverted b&w layer with a glow added, and changed the mode to "soft light". I also played around with the color mixing using the g'mic plug-in.
Yet another example of, what I perceive as overprocessing. I think the above isn't so bad, I just don't usually go for this type of look. What I was trying to do was get the colors to pop a little more, and in the process I blew them out. I tried a few things to compensate rather than take it back to scratch, for the sake of experimentation.

I always take a kajillion photos of animals...you never know when you'll get the chance again. I mean, always, to get back to them, but seldom do. My monitor at home is old and I have learned that I tend to overprocess on it. I took at look at this photo, again, and decided it was better without all the processing. Once I learned how to use my ancient copy of Elements, I went a bit wacky on the processing for a time. :D

We had just arrived from Seaford and as we parked I spotted this pile of beer barrels at the rear of the closed Craven Arms pub in Coventry.
By they following afternoon they had been neatly stacked up and we met thenew landlord.
Scored a miserable 14/20 in the Seaford Photographic Society DPI round. The judge thought if had been overprocessed and commented of the orange wall, something which I had no control over
