sterling silver, brushed

Artist Statement:

I create jewelry that is fabricated entirely by hand. One of the techniques I employ is that of melting sterling silver and manipulating this material while it is hot to achieve the organic shapes often seen in my designs. I mainly work with sterling silver and occasionally add gold, semi-precious stones or found objects to my designs. I draw upon innumerable sources for my inspiration, including vintage textile patterns, the physical universe and commonplace objects from my daily life.

each one of us

wants a piece of the action

you can hear it in what we say

you can see it in what we do

we negotiate with chaos

for some sense of satisfaction

if you won't give it to me

at least give me a better view

A diagram to show how different individuals may form similar Mental Constructs if they have shared similar Observations of the World.

This particular diagram also includes "shared gaps" in observation of the World; i.e., areas of the Concrete World none of these individuals has observed.

Another Friday for Fish n Chips at Blackhead, Gerroa this week. The light wasn't playing along but I found a couple of compositions that I didn't mind all the same..

Still coming to grips with the internal electronic ND filter in the OM-1 - it's very freeing being able to just tap a setting and there it is ...

There were so many balloons in the field. I was in awe at how many were able to take off at once.

Nothing like airplanes taking off.

Hubbard’s sportive lemur is one of 26 similar species of sportive lemur, all of which have very restricted distributions within Madagascar, Hubbard’s sportive lemur being confined to the Zombitse area.

They are medium sized lemurs, around 30cm long (plus a 30cm tail), weighing up to 0.9 kg. Sportive lemurs are strictly nocturnal and predominantly arboreal, moving among the trees with long jumps powered by their strong hind legs. During the day they hide in leafy covering or tree hollows.

Sportive lemurs are solitary and defend their territory against same sex intruders although the territories of males and females can overlap. A single baby is born between September and December which is often reared in a nest in a tree hollow. Juveniles are weaned at about four months but remain with their mother until one year old. At 18 months they are fully mature and can live to around eight years old (if they are not caught be snakes, owls or fossas).

3-D Cross-viewing Instructions.

Cross-viewing is the best way to view 3-D (in my humble opinion). It takes about 5 minutes on average to master this technique, but it is well worth it. After that it became effortless. Better than glasses because you lose none of the color. Here's how to do it...

1.Place the image in Figure 1 in the center of your screen.

2. Sit at your normal distance.

3. Slowly cross your eyes. You will see a double image.

4. Continue to cross until the middle two images overlap.

5. Adjust focus on middle image, keeping the two images overlapped.

6. You should see the image snap into perfect 3-D.

I haven't shot much this year but I took advantage of the icy weather to take a walk across this farmland, which would have been too muddy otherwise.

I overwound the film on the first of these two shots and ended up with overlapping frames; however I think it came out pretty well.
