today's media circus outside my office. the exclusion zone around borough market was large, due to traffic management issues. the world's news crews liked this spot because of the view of the shard and a dramatically empty street. this would give a false impression on screen, because the other direction is traffic chaos and crowds trying to get around the roadblock.

I understand this was the last Bedford chassis ever made?
The gas and electricity outage in Caddington continues. Some homes in the village have gas, some has electricity, some have both, some have neither. A real mixed bag. Our gas is still out but at least we have electricity. An eerie silence decended on the village last night with further power cuts. The emergency rest centres have been open 24 hours a day for the last few days and have done a great job.
Meanwhile, the snowy weather continues to hamper the army of men busy working away down numerous holes scattered around the village

Peugeot 806 GLX HDI (manual). DVLA have the colour as white.
One of a fleet of identical 806s to be fitted out as mobile, roving studios for the BBC's local radio stations. This one belonged to BBC Radio Norfolk, and was supplied by 'Oxford Motors', seemingly now 'Bristol Street Motors' (Peugeot dealer).
Registered by late 2001, presumably entering service reasonably soon after, it's seen in late 2006 conducting interviews in King's Lynn about allotmenting. This example was probably scrapped during 2015 after covering 130,000+ miles. It failed an MOT in 2014 due to excessive corrosion. Last taxed in 2018..
From other Flickr uploads, OY51HBE must've served alongside X629POG - an identical (but actually white) 806 registered in late 2000. POG outlived this car by 2 years - last MOT expired in 2017 - although it's currently SORN.
The telescopic antenna's sheer height amazes me even now!!
Another photograph bought from the "excess to needs" basket at the Sydney Tramway Museum.
Here we see O-class 1339 leading a coupled set, followed by a coupled set of Ps, and then an R-class tram in a parade to rival the only recently concluded Waratah Parade. Like Sydney's former tramway system, the Waratah Parade has disappeared into Sydney history as well.
Note the Channel 7 outside broadcast television camera on David Jones' awning and the early model Holden cars.

Europe's oldest transportable satellite uplink still working 31 years after it came into service for the BBC.
This time transmitting back up circuits for the London Olympics, and receiving other feeds.
Difficult to get a shot that shows it is at the Olympics, as the Satellite Dish Farm doesn't have much of a view, other than the sky!

The "scanner" truck was brand new and we had spent the previous months getting it all to work ...this was it's first real outing....
The "power van" was also a newish item (as I recall) The generator was a Volvo .. but the actual vehicle looks like a Thames Trader Cab ??????
