One half of the robin pairs that carve our territories in our yard. They're so industrious and energetic. I love it when they perch in a tree for a moment.

Thinking he is going to sell any ice creams today . . .

Sooner or later it has to be bicycle weather again...

A self proclaimed "hamster tunnel" running across the street in connection to a hotel about to be demolished.

My mother gave me this book to read in my teen years. Adler’s memoir is an important addition to the correction of how we understand the student movement’s of the 60’s. Her commitment that with optimism/direct action she could help change the world in the 60’s and a good life was one that combined personal and communal interests with the point being to live into one’s ethical beliefs is still important today.

I captured no new photographs during the weekend, so I'm still fooling around with my archive and textures. This time I used two more great textures from ASfotos (Thanks again, Adele!). The picture is also embellished with my lame attempt at poetry :-)

May you all have a wonderful week!

Has the rain finally stopped or is this merely a short interlude before the next deluge? Our daily challenge is optimism or pessimism. Taken on my late afternoon walk along the Courtenay estuary.

A fitting end to the Old Madison Mills.

Optimism when the circumstances are adverse, it is not easy Sometimes when I hear this saying seems to me that it is more desperate desire to wait and trust that they can change quickly and move to a favorable situation in a short time almost art magic. However it is time to accept our lives as the uncertainty principle and everyday situations will not change unless we provoke change. Waiver of dogmatism and predeterminism has been the key to success and the evolution of individuals and society. Newton convinced the world that the time was equal for all, that was absolute. Then came Einstein said time is relative; differs depending on the physical mass that supported and speed.

She may have been busy laying eggs, but he thought he would grasp the opportunity....

'fraid these contrasts in light were too much for me to deal with. This was the best attempt.

Summer walkabout in Chelsea...well, more just outside of Chelsea. This is on the tracks near the Jiffy mix factory.

On weekends during the summer months there is often an ice cream van parked up on the triangular traffic island at the junction of the roads to Dronfield, Calver and Fox House at Longshaw on the Sheffield / Derbyshire Peak District border. Perhaps today with regular heavy downpours sweeping up the Hope Valley, queues for ice creams may be unlikely.

Looking beautiful in everything including what is ugly :)

I’ve always loved the way nature overcomes ‘our’ way of unbalancing it. It offers me hope for the future. But wouldn’t it be better for us to help it along by making its job easer?

Anyway, this is an unusual image for me to be posting, I normally focus on pure nature, but even through the image is very industrial for me, it does demonstrate optimism. Anyway this image is from a few months ago, I was stood in the middle of a field trying to get images of northern lights and I was keeping myself busy light painting a dilapidated greenhouse! I particularly like the structure in this and the textures and colour difference between hot and cold I find particularly pleasing.

Here we have orange lifesavers strewn across the railings of this bridge. What are they for? Are they to grab and throw to something or someone one might spot in the mighty Ohio River to save their life? Serious question. We did not stop to see if these lifesavers were easily detachable in the event of an emergency.

There are bike lanes going across this bridge - not all the way over. Only 3/4 of the way. Either Indiana does not want Kentucky bicyclists peddling into their state or Kentucky ran out of paint. Hard to say what the logic is on this particular bridge but the planning took decades.

I took a photo of this tunnel months ago, back in June. It doesn’t feel like months ago, but it was….

I do have more optimism than I did the last time I took an image in this spot.

This photo is dedicated and inspired by my parents, constantly humble in the face of challenges, eternally supportive, and the most amazing examples of courage and strength. ♥ My father has been courageously fighting cancer for over a year now and is bravely starting a new course of chemo treatments this week. Keep him in your thoughts for me :)

It is a bleak day in Toronto, Canada. I took this from the deck of our recreation centre this morning. You can see the lighthouse and all the sailboats put away for the upcoming winter. Best seen large by clicking on the photo,

Thanks for your visits, enjoy your day!
