At night its possible to just walk along the streets and watch whats happening inside the stores. People don't easily see you in the dark outside. You can wait for the right moment and build your composition. This barber was a good oppurtunity.
I have waited a long time to get a photo of this bridge that I like. It is fact an underpass and it has so many photo oppurtunity when the light is good
When the sun finally showed its face, the whole place changed from all the colours of the rainbow to black & gold.
Being in the right place at the right time does have its advantages.
The trees in the foreground were just at the right height to take away the intense light from the sun, therefore creating the oppurtunity in capturing the perfect silhouette, not only of the trees but the sun itself..

Rosemary bags my coffee beans for me and we chat. It was quite a few months ago that I noticed she was quite attractive. . . petite and a bit of a sprite.
Rosemary doesn't work everyday, so it was hard to catch her at the times when I had my camera. Finally, I caught her with just my camera and the mounted lens.
10-18mm lens is NOT the ideal portrait lens, but you do with what you got. Monday, I'm going to print up copies for her.
I really admire her fine bone structure. She is such a super nice person and works like she's in high speed all of the time.
Thanks Rosemary for the oppurtunity.. . .
One of the top female swimmers in the state of Utah gave me an oppurtunity to use the underwater feature on my camera.
I also shot a couple minutes of video with the my Olympus Stylus 720 that will be used in the sports piece
A former Airborne Express bird, now used as a classroom and tour stop at Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport. This is located inside the fence at the firestation. This is what a cockpit should look like! My thanks for this great oppurtunity!
Our courthouse in Clark County, Missouri is getting closer to its time at the gallows pole. Just as the 2 men that was publicly hung here a hundred years ago, this buildings awaits it fate. We still don't know the date, but everything is salvaged. The dome is probably still going to be lowered and preserved. I photographed throughout the whole building yesterday and its looking more abandoned. One good thing is that all of the modern ceilings were taken out which has revealed the tall original ceilings. Yesterday we had a record setting temperature of 69 degrees! Old record was 65. Melted most of our snow. It was odd to walk out of the warmth and go down into the jails below and immediately see your breath! I could really kick myself for missing the oppurtunity of photographing inside after the blizzard with a foot and a half of snow blowing through all of those open windows! Well next time.
A long exposure shot across the fjortd to where I grew up. It's a place I love to go back to as there is so many photo oppurtunities in the area.

Soooooooooooooo, it's time for one, I think. Alrighty. This is my first one ever, but not my last. From here on out I am going Giveaways seasonally. Today is officially the first day of spring, so I am opening a giveaway. Many of you have an idea of how this works, but I would like to go over some things to consider before entering:
1) Any photos with people in them other than myself will require their permission.
2) Choose a photo, and post it in the comments below. Photos I have posted in comments are allowed as well (: I think if you sent the link after clicking the photo should work!
3) I will be posting photos after this which you can choose as well. So if the photo you posted in your comment is different from the one you truly want, don't worry. I'll be personally messaging the winners after they are chosen. I would just like to see what photos people are looking at and such, baha.
4) The give away will be open for a week. March 27th is the last day to enter! I will choose the winners the following day.
5) this will be the only giveaway that all photos posted through March 27 can be chosen. I'm thinking of doing giveaways by season which means that the next giveaway, June 21, will include photos taken only within spring. Does that make sense? If any questions, ask away!
The exception of this print giveaway:
This giveaway you can also choose a photo from my old account, here, as well. So you have the oppurtunity to win two photos, yay! :D
A good thing to know! The colors will be slightly different as a print! Hopefully no one will mind!
I will choose seven winners (: That's a lot! So, there's probably a good chance that you will win since I am terribly inactive and no one watches me, really, lol.
So that's it for now! Good luck, peeps! :D
Film. And almost sooc. The print is slightly darker, so I edited it a wee bit.
Update: The giveaway will run another week because I've been having problems getting the giveaway out there. So on April 3 I will announce the winners! Sorry!
Glennfinnan viaduct, not the best day to visit, the grass around the viaduct was like a swamp, I wanted to walk beyond the viaduct to take a shot of the viaduct with the monument and loch in the background but it was far too wet, lets hope i get another oppurtunity.
My first attempt at astrophotography. Over the last few nights earth has been passing through the tail of comet Temple-Tuttle & this has resulted in leonid meteor showers. Last night was the first clear night and oppurtunity for me to give this a whirl.
All shots are 9 - 15 minute exposures, with an aperature of 4-5.6 & ISO of no more than 500.Next time I will try the stacking technique - I'm not too happy with the noise.
I didn't capture a meteor, in fact I only saw 4 in two hours. Early Tuesday morning is exepcted to produce another batch of bright meteors. I think I'll head out for that, this time with a blanket & a falsk of hot hot hot coffee!!

Simon Bolivar Youth Orchestra consists of the 200 most promising students in Venezuela's famous and ground breaking musical education for youth, El Sistema. The program was founded in 1975 by the visionary conductor and economist José Antonio Abreu. The network of youth otchestras gives oppurtunities and inspiration to more than 250,00 children from all over Venezuela - a country where 75% of the population lives under the poverty line.
The Konserthus in Oslo, one of the most emblematic theaters in the cultural life of Norway, opens its home page with the announcement of the concert that the Venezuelan orchestra will perform on June 11 in that city, cradle of the Nobel Prize. ”Margariteña” will be heard in this venue, composed by Inocente Carreño, who turned 90 years old in 2010; and ”Danzas del Ballet La Estancia” by Ginastera, and the Fourth Symphony by Tchaikovsky will also be performed.

Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way that you act toward outsiders; make the most of every oppurtunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer to everyone.
February 22nd, 2009
Today was a really good day. I woke up and was in a super mood because last night was awesome (Description to come in a later picture). So, I got up around 6:50ish and went ahead and showered. I showered, blow-dried my hair, got dressed, straightened my hair, ate breakfast, brushed my teeth, checked facebook, flickr, blogger, etc. And lots more stuff. By the time I was finished, it was about time for church. So, I went to church. And Nathan said that people were coming over to his house, and he wanted to know if I wanted to come too. And so, talked to my parents, and they said it was fine. And then Lou made Nathan come and sit by me. And I kinda liked it. :P
Then, went to his house, and we just hung out. We ate pizza, I watched him play basketball, golf, and a bunch of other stuff. It was really nice out today. I liked it. Then we watched Master and Commander, and I almost fell asleep. hah.
ANNNDDD--yeah. It was awesome. Anything with him is a good time, really.
Came home, ate some chocolate cake, did my homework, took my picture. And now I'm here. It's a stellar day. :D
And I never get pictures with Nathan. darnit!
Ryan wrote a blog, and it really kinda made me think. I plan to call him tomorrow...and have a long serious talk about everything.........it's about time I do something....
I went to Comicpalooza this past weekend and had the opportunity to meet Chloe Bennet who plays Skye on Agents of SHIELD. Above is her autograph that I asked to have personalized. It reads "David, i have been "quaking" with excitement to meet you! Stay awesome!" she was by far the kindest actor I met this weekend and she actually contributed to the personalization as I initially suggested "shaking" and she said well maybe i should write "quaking" and I learned she was also a big geek. I showed her a picture of my friends and i that we took at the Avengers Age of Ultron premiere and she loved it! She messed up while writing because she had some crappy markers so she asked her agent to grab another headshot for me and wrote it again in a new marker. This gave me an oppurtunity to have an even longer conversation and spend time with Chloe Bennet. She was so kind and you could tell she actually wanted to be there.
Wahoo me and the mrs had a day off from work together, (rare) so we went for a walk with the kids to st leonards on sea and once again photo oppurtunity galore.
Saw this and took loads of pictures, wanted to smooth the water out over boardwalk but it was toooo bright, even with an ND8 and a polarizor stacked.
Will go back when its a little darker.
Christmas eve 2014. Florida, Fort Meyers beach. I took the oppurtunity to stroll along the beach on my own and snap anything I could. These guys were pretty tame. They were more interested in what was in the sea than my with my DSLR.
I had an oppurtunity to run up the Gorge for an hour or so and explore a new area. The clouds moved in just as I got there, so didn't take many photos, but the calm mild evening and brief time of solitude along this secluded beach was more than enough reward for me.
This was a three exposure blend I tried and something I'd like to do more often to get more proficient at it.

Pole Dancer: Megumi Yuzuki / 柚月恵
Couple of months ago I had this assignment to take some profile photos of a pole dancer, this was the first time for me to shoot someone doing this type of dance, and we did some very interesting stuff together. Her name is Megumi Yuzuki / 柚月恵, and she is one of the best pole dancers in Japan, she is very professional and also very easy to work with. We have also done some other shoots after this one, but the result from them I will upload later! In this article I will explain the strobist setup of the edgy lighting I've been using for her, and you can see some of the photos below!
Here is the whole article about the shoot on my Website! Check it out! Here I will mention just a little about it. In this shoot after a talk with my model, trying to analyze her I decided to go with some edgy lighting, thus putting some emphasize on her beautiful body lines. So I decided to use my strip lights from both sides diagonally and shoot without any light from the front side. I think this really created some images that show in a really good way her body structure. Then after some shots with only the strip lights, I thought to put some life into the background, so here came the flash gels, on this shoot I used blue and purple, as you will see on the shots I've uploaded down in the article! And after setting that, it was just about to shoot, she was now posing that much as she was just doing it the way when she is dancing, so I didn't have to tell her a lot what to do!
So, what is actually the pole dance? Well, maybe from the influence of the Hollywood movies, but the pole dance still has the reputation of strippers in the night club. Actually it is getting popular as an excercise and something to learn, also it is gving you the oppurtunity to practice and enjoy spins, acrobatics, floor movement and others tricky things! She is teaching students from 16 to 60 years of age, so you can do pole dance no matter what age you are, and no matter what job you are doing! Megumi is organizing a party called PDN. It has a different theme every time, for example doing collaboration with salsa and samba dancers, capoeira, or even jazz and and other types of live music combined with pole dancing to create an interesting show, and deliver their concept. Approximately 20 dancers perform on each show, and they dance until late in the night. Pole dance is a way for every woman to polish herself as a beautiful woman in a healthy way. You don't need to look like a celebrity or have amazing acrobat skills of an olympic player to do pole dance, it can be practiced by everyone no matter of social status and age!

Ellie-Mae's Life Story:
March 2007, born at the Daisy Hill Puppy Farm.
May 2007, after secreting away wire cutters and bacon, made good my escape. Used that prissy little Tea-cup Poodle peice of fluff as a diversion, peed on it. She set to howling up a storm and I used the oppurtunity to slip out the back.
Made a living dealing Liva-snaps on the mean streets but had to flee again as It seems I was stepping on the toes of The Mastiff Gang.
Caught the eye of an older Giant Schnauzer and finagled my way into his heart. Rode his coat-tails to Toronto and spent many a good year as his consort, co-ruling the Sorauren dog patch.

My Favorite Activities: Ort prospecting, speed eating, kickin' arse.
My Favorite Foods: Yours.
My Favorite Quotes: "I was called a terrierist yesterday, but when I came out of the pound, many people embraced me, including my enemies. And that is what I normally tell other canines who say: 'those who are struggling for liberation in their dog-park are terrierists'.".

This is Happy Hill Schoolhouse, built in the fall of 1900. The first month of school that year began in a vacant farmhouse. The last day was in 1954. My grandfather went to school here in the 1920's, and my father went here in the 1950's. So when the oppurtunity came to move this I had to take it. I traded it from an old timer for a rock. Boulder actually. Which in a previous year he had let me have from his land via tractor. He later didn't realise it was such a good looking rock. The old schoolhouse was sold at auction in May of 1954. A friend and I with help from an Amish house mover, moved it home in Nov.2005, I'm restoring it slowly into a schoolhouse. The bell tower came from the Antioch school which was near collapse. Mine and Clark schools are the only ones in the county with towers and mine the only one with working bell. Just got a pot bellied stove for it. It wasn't originally blue just matches our house, hard decision.

Today between the chaos and madness, the desision was made to get the loaned bendy bus MAL49 (BD52 LNF) out for a wash,so the chance to take a photo of this 16 and a quarter ton beast out in the sun was an oppurtunity not be missed. It also gave some of the drivers, that were sat around enjoying the sun a chance to get up and do something. The bus is seen here after it has just been backed out of it's corner, that it has been sat in for near enough 4 mouths now.

an absolutely fantastic line up of four Wrights Eclipse Gemmini bodied Volvo B7's used currently on Harrogate's service 36 between Leeds and Ripon via Harrogate.
This line up greeted me at 6am Sunday morning and i only had just over an hour to capture this shot before the line up was broken for service, I took the shots at 7am just after sunrise, it would have been easier at 8am but that was not an option......... I had no input whatsoever in creating this line up.............. BUT boy did I make the most of it. !!!

After realising that the Alexandra Palace tattoo exhibition wasn't going to offer the photo oppurtunities we'd hoped for barbasboth and I headed off to Soho. I spotted Vaidas moving through the throng and knew he'd make a great stranger portrait with those stylish tortise shell specs.

This millipede was running around near my Balanophora and I decided to take few photos. This guy is really cute and it is for the first time I capture the eyes, rare oppurtunity indeed. I wanna take more photos but it dissapeared almost as quickly and so sudden that we don't even realised it was gone.
Taken on tripod, Sony Alpha A700, 100mm macro SAL-100M28, iso=400 f/4
This is the note on the milliped from Wiki:
Millipedes (Class Diplopoda, previously also known as Chilognatha) are arthropods that have two pairs of legs per segment (except for the first segment behind the head which does not have any appendages at all, and the next few which only have one pair of legs). Each segment that has two pairs of legs is a result of two single segments fused together as one. Most millipedes have very elongated cylindrical bodies, although some are flattened dorso-ventrally, while pill millipedes are shorter and can roll into a ball, like a pillbug. Millipedes are detritivores and slow moving. Most millipedes eat decaying leaves and other dead plant matter, moisturising the food with secretions and then scraping it in with the jaws. However they can also be a minor garden pest, especially in greenhouses where they can cause severe damage to emergent seedlings. Signs of millipede damage include the stripping of the outer layers of a young plant stem and irregular damage to leaves and plant apices.
We still had to do a picture of all our dollies together and since today is Luminas "arrival day" and thus the day we joined the hobby we thought this would be a great oppurtunity to make one ♥
We got Estelle & Lunetta in April, Emma somewhere in September aand Alex in November - so our group hasn't grown too much ♥
Buut there are still some Minifees we want to finish this year, so that our twins aren't so lonely anymore ♥
While I was out enjoying a beautiful April morning before I had to leave for work, I found myself drawn to the water. As a sucker for Western skies I already knew that I'd taken my share of pictures of pretty clouds against the lake. felt that it would be overdoing it if I clicked another. I lucked out as I met David, balancing upon a thin piece of metal with a boat on each side. I stood for a while, watching half expecting him to fall into the water. Nearly like a ballerina he managed to balance himself quite evenly, and once he had crossed onto solid ground I introduced myself.
He extended his hand and introduced himself as David Watkins, a member and coach of the Mendota Rowing Club. Waking up bright and early, often before the sun shines to row Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. He offered me the oppurtunity to do a ride along on a boat sometime, which sounds like great fun; I just have to find the will power to get myself out of bed in time. When he's not busy rowing, he is working for Yumbutter as the "Director of Customer Happiness." A very awesome job title if I do say so myself! In chatting I also learned that David was a bit of a photographer, more landscapes in nature; but none the less didn't have many pictures of himself as he is behind the lens more times then not.
At this time I came to the conclusion that he would make a great face to include in my (608)strangers. With simple request to take his picture for the project, he easily agreed and I snapped away a few frames. I knew that I had to include the boats, the sky, and most importantly David; All the elements came together as one and thus his inclusion in the project was done. Many of my strangers in the past have been portraits of just a face, but I think looking through the 100 strangers group; I've discovered that I enjoy environmental portraiture more. It benefited me greatly that David was photogenic, and it was a beautiful day; I gave him a card and we parted ways less strangers then we were before.
