I am new to film (at least the processing part) so if you notice imperfections, I know, I am working on it. I found that my negatives gathered a lot of dust which makes for terrible lines when printing.

A US Army radio operator of Blue (Rifle) Platoon Troop B, 1st Sqdn, 9th Cav, 1st Cavalry Division (Air-mobile), moves through purple smoke created by a smoke grenade during an assault mission which formed part of Operation PERSHING in the An Lao Valley, 28 July 1967. The grenade had been dropped by the troop commander from an OH-13 helicopter to mark the area to be checked for Viet Cong supply bunkers.

Kula Kangri has been widely rumored to be the highest mountain in Bhutan, located in a remote space of Northern Bhutan, near the Chinese border. However, recent Chinese sources, with confirmation by Japanese sources, place Kula Kangri entirely within China, with elevation 7538 metres, not 7554 metres, as traditionally quoted. The Chinese survey further establishes that Gangkar Punsum is higher, at 7570 metres, and that it lies on the border between China and Bhutan, although no boundary accord has been all over with Bhutan.
Nevertheless, natural features argue in favor of Kula Kangri as being entirely at intervals China, and at the lower quoted height than traditionally given. It remains for Bhutan to conduct its own survey if the confusion or doubt is to be removed. The traditional height of Gangkar Punsum is 7541 metres, not 7570, as the modern Chinese survey indicates.
The divergence of opinion regarding Kula Kangri and Gangkar Punsum is heightend by the policy of {bhutan|Bhutan|Kingdom of Bhutan nation forbiddance rising of all mountains in Bhutan higher than 6000 metres since 1994, although a Japanese expedition claims to have reached Gangkar Punsum’s North summit, known as Liangkang Kangri (7535m) in 1999, which is still on the Chinese facet of the border as apparently regarded by China. Incidentally, the Latitude of Gangkar Punsum is believed to be 28.02.48 North, and Longitude ninety.27.21 East, whereas Kula Kangri’s is now quoted at twenty eight.13.34 N, 90.36.4 E.

Northrop F-89J Scorpion
Northrop designed the F-89 as an all-weather fighter-interceptor for the Air Defense Command. With the radar operator in the rear seat guiding the pilot, the F-89 could locate, intercept, and destroy enemy aircraft by day or night under all types of weather conditions. The first F-89 made its initial flight in August 1948, and deliveries to the US Air Force began in July 1950. Northrop produced a total of 1,052 F-89s for the Air Force.
On July 19, 1957, an F-89J (a modified F-89D) fired a Genie test rocket with a nuclear warhead, and it detonated over a Nevada test range. It marked the first launch of an air-to-air rocket with a nuclear warhead. Northrop converted 350 F-89DS to "J" models, Air Defense Command's first fighter-interceptor to carry nuclear armament. Powered by two Allison J35 engines, each capable of producing 7,200 lbs of thrust with afterburner, the F-89J had a cruising speed of 465 mph.
The Maine Air National Guard transferred the Scorpion on display (Serial Number 52-1911) to the Museum in July 1969. This aircraft was the last F-89 in service with an operational unit. It is painted to represent an F-89J (Serial Number 53-2509) assigned to the 449th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in the late 1950s. Based at Ladd AFB, near Fairbanks, Alaska, it carries insignia red arctic markings.

A year ago I first visited the abandoned lime quarry at Cocking. Returning today I did a bit more investigating, starting with this one of 2 discarded Ruston-Bucyrus excavators in the quarry itself. I felt the same eerie sense of isolation as I did the first time, a feeling like your being watched.
