Clement Hayes, who lives on an OSMP conservation easement surrounded by the Southern Grasslands Habitat Conservation Area, snapped this amazing photo of a very rare butterfly - a male Regal Fritillary. The butterfly's larvae feed on violets native to the tallgrass prairie. Since very little tallgrass remains in North America, the Regal Fritillary population has declined alarmingly. Butterflies and tallgrass prairie remnants receive protection on OSMP.
