全国的に有名な明石のタコ。買い物客で賑わう魚棚商店街では明石海峡で捕れたマダコが活きた状態で売られています。これは明石焼の店先で見つけたゆでダコ。こうして見るとあまり気持ちに良いものではありませんね。
Akashi city (in Hyogo prefecture) is very famous for "Octopus" among Japanese. The citizens of Akashi and lots of visitors get octopus to make various dishes, for example Akashi-yaki, Tako-mashi (Japanese paella rice with octopus) and Tenpura (Fried octopus).

... just about lost my lens cap down 'the hatch' ~ ha ! What actually went down is one of the fallen 'flowers' off of our dogwood tree.
The gray catbird wasn't at all pleased when the juvenile cardinal tried to capture the perch. The catbird won.

i've just been far too busy with getting ready to go back to school to comment... i leave in 6 hours, at which point i embark on a killer 11 hour drive to amherst, massachusetts. and yes, i am taking my car, which means i'm driving, too. hurrrrr.
i really hope i'll have more time for everything once i get settled in... eep. for now, here is an older picture.

Oops! Male and female Northern Harriers practice the handoff of a rodent from him to her over the Columbia River. Here, if she misses, she just swoops down and takes it off the water surface (which she did). In a month, she will be sitting on a nest while he is "required" to feed her. The handoff will be over the nest, and they have to have it down.
