Hi. Not super recent but a good pic of me in action, on assignment in Northern Iwate for the National Parks Authority of Japan.
At that time shooting both the Nikon D800E and the Hasselblad H6D-100.
Amazing morning walk during which we encountered snow drifts of 6-7m in depth.

Guilty as charged!
Right in front of my nose, huge buildings, occupied by hundreds of families.
Downtown San Paulo, Brazil.
Few blocks from the City Hall, the Stock Exchange, the Central Bank among so many other fundamental, worthy and basic institutions.
In just one of the buildings, 475 families occupies 27 unfinished floors.
Kids play and run.
Clotheslines on the outside of the building, without any protection from falling down and in front of the entire city.
Windows, with breathtaking views, of one of the biggest and most populated cities on the Planet, made of compensated wood or sticks, even at the 27th floor.
People that use strength and organization to impose their reality, to a society that doesn’t care to listen.
Guilty as charged!

Congratulations to Patti, who recently won a National Book Award in the Nonfiction category for her memoir, "Just Kids." (I can't wait to read it!*) I had the great pleasure of photographing her with Lenny Kaye backstage at the Herbst Theater in San Francisco this past October.

*Update: I just finished reading "Just Kids" - Patti's memoir about becoming an artist alongside Robert Mapplethorpe in NYC in the late 60s and 70s. It is a beautiful story about two beautiful, creative souls and I highly recommend reading it if you haven't already.
P.S. It's a tearjerker, so have your hankies ready when you get to the end. I mean, we already know Robert M. died of AIDS in 1989 going into it, so it's not like we don't know what's coming, but Patti's poignant recounting of it is very moving.

Outtakes from San Francisco Magazine assignment for the November 2009 issue
I was on assignment down in Yokohama the other night, for a Tokyo-based magazine. Just a little job, to photograph a bar and the dancers performing there. Great bar: Rock-a-Hula. Excellent atmosphere, great food, awesome mojitos.... I had three :-)
...after taking the photos, of course.
No cropping on this. SOOC.
