ok--so here's the trite, pedestrian photo of japanese lanterns in late afternoon light. Except they are just down the road in the middle of suburbia of all suburbias. Maybe that makes it more interesting?. ok maybe not. who am i kidding. i just use any lame excuse to keep practing with my camera.

Except when i really see something i want to photograph--i don't have my camera.

Like today at the vet. A 90 year old woman, with her tiny chihuahua, wearing a turqoise floral skirt (the lovely senior, not her chihuahua), which matched the aqua walls of the old vet building which went just fine with her pink rimmed plastic glasses, which she wore proudly with her black knee socks.

The Bahia Honda Rail Bridge is an old railroad bridge in the lower Florida Keys connecting Bahia Honda Key with Spanish Harbor Key. It was originally part of the Overseas Railway,

some old marrony trees can turn growing on such surreal forms and aspect s.

In several old little rural villages , in France , they even have been used sometimes by locals , as a public - main " dancefloor " for important fancies -parties - and so on ...

Seen from the steps of the cabin.

Old tree set against nice blue sky in the background

I wonder how many kids have limbed this old tree.

This is a tree we used to have in the front yard. Too many tropical storms and tree pests took their toll and we had to take it down. The other tree in the opposite quadrant is HUGE now (and has caused significant foundation problems...so beautiful, yes, but destructive--and if the next Hurricane blows it the wrong way--we're in deep doo-doo).

This barn was out in the middle of a field.......

A mighty old oak tree, unfortunately meanwhile dead. The trunk diameter is roughly 3 meter. Yes, it is a gigantic tree in the park of Castle Lednice (in Czech Republic).

Looking through some old photos I came across these shots of old trees in the woods close to our house. They were taken in 2006 with my old Fuji camera.

Japanese White Pine, in training since 1626, the oldest tree in the National Bonsai & Penjing Museum

I am never happy about trees being cut down but in this instance I do not know the full story and may never do so.

Having read the news about the petition I decided to visit Fairview to see what the fuss was about and also it was a good excuse to visit the area.

According to one local that I spoke to the City Council is planning to remove about fifty trees in order to make way for a new cycle path but a second lady explained that as the trees will be replaced by the Corpo [Dublin City Council] she was not interested in the petition.

As the planting began in 1906 some of the trees are over a hundred years old and according to the City Council officials some of the older trees are distressed because of restricted growing space and need to be felled regardless of their plans for a cycleway.

On the main Fairview road there is a large number of trees marked with yellow bands and I assume that these are the trees destined for the chop. However, according to some online accounts it is the trees along the park’s main footpath that are under threat. I think that some reports have used stock photographs of random trees in the park.

By the way the Irish Times are not in favour of the petition see: www.irishtimes.com/opinion/fairview-trees-row-shows-why-d...

This was just about the last picture I shot this morning and one I was reasonably happy with. All the rest were OK but there were no clouds and it looked so boring. Then these wispy clouds appeared, thankfully.

Taken from a sand-dune behind the Sorrento Back Beach.

This yew tree is 1300 years old. Unless it was some other tree in the same churchyard.
