Tx, Houston. USA. I'm one not to set up a scene when it comes to taking a picture. One Houston does not have the landscape. So I try to find things interesting just long enough to hold your interest you the viewer critic. I took his picture in color and B&W. The color picture was not as interesting so I went with b&w. The end result. This leaf had no color to it. Just brown, but, I did like the shape of the leaf. So I place it up against the big tree, the sun light was prefect the shadow was prefect, so I thought what the hell. I hope you like this picture. Oh, I took this picture with a cheap cell phone.

Agathis australis - New Zealand Kauri,Kauri,Southern Kauri
Family : Araucariaceae
At between 2000 and 3000 years old Te Matua Ngahere is the 2nd Largest Agathis australis -(Southern Kauri) in New Zealand and effectively - the world, having the
biggest Kauri girth of - 16.41m and the 2nd biggest trunk volume - 208.1Cubic Metres. Compared to the tallest Kauri,it is just over half Tane Mahuta's
height - 29.9m (Trunk Height - 10.21m.)
Although not as tall as Tane Mahuta (51.5m) "Lord of the Forest", Te Matua Ngahere "Father of the Forest" is much broader and stouter.
At 208.1Cubic Metres compared to Tane Mahuta's massive volume of 244.5 cubic metres Te Matua Ngahere is second in overal size to Tane Mahuta.
Te Matua Ngahere suffered serious crown damage in 2007 after a storm.
Storm takes centre of Te Matua Ngahere
Regretably in recent times New Zealand's iconic Agathis australis trees are in trouble from an introduced pathogenic fungus called Phytophthora - left unchecked it has the potential to wipe the species out.
This is an amazing must read article which details the sad history of Australia's tallest trees
Everything is just more photogenic there. Late afternoon light on some gnarly old trees on the Omo River. Finally to Kara land too! Our time in Dus Village was by far the best. I'll get some pics up of the Kara people next.
Golden Gate Park in San Francisco ~ it had been raining the previous day and the air was so sweet ;-) I stayed in a Bed and Breakfast about 10 blocks away from this spot...needless to say that i want to go back to San Francisco ;-)

In 1860, Diocesan Native Female Training School was found at Bonham Road.
It was renamed Diocesan Female School in 1866, restricted to orphans and destitute Chinese girls in 1869. Later, it became the Diocesan Home and Orphanage and accepted boys as well.
The School first received government financial assistance in 1878. The boys were to continue their education at the newly founded Diocesan Boys' School.
In 1891, the School changed its name to "Diocesan School and Orphanage" (DSO).
In 1902, the School changed its name to "Diocesan Boys’ School and Orphanage" (DBSO).
In 1913, DGS moved to Jordon Road 1.
In 1918, the name Diocesan Boys’ School was already used.
The school campus was built in 1923, borrowed to British Military Authority as hospital.
DBS moved into present campus in 131 Argyle Street in 1927.

The cemetery, established in 1874, is terraced into the hillside on the north end of what remains of Gardiner, Oregon, on Old Highway 101. Most of the headstones are quite old and some are struggling with the elements and the passage of time. These gravestones belong, for the most part, to the early pioneers of the area. Steep cement paths lead visitors to the graves of founding citizens and their descendants, children who never made it to adulthood due to the rigors of pioneer life, and others can be found there.
The International Paper mill in Gardiner, Oregon employed hundreds of people at its peak, but closed in 1999, laying off nearly 1,000 workers. Population 351 (2023)

Deadwood in the field! This old "dead" tree has stood in this field forever and there is something quite wonderful about it. Really pleased this has never, yet, been cut down - I believe it makes for a good shot!

(Kilde: Wikipedia)

Hoping to get out this weekend for a bit of croft crawling but much work for work to be done, sadly. No long lie tomorrow then.
