From an early morning shoot where I got my shoes soiled in mud. If there is any consolation please tell me ;)
Hi There!
This little fellow found a great place for grub. He was in the depths of the woods, blasting away at the old stump like a maniac.
I appreciate your time to view and comment on this image, thank you! Have a fantastic day!

I have just noticed that this is my 503rd up load since the 19th of February, when I put up my first image, I have missed the 500 mark by a few days.
In September I uploaded an imaged named "Autumn Trees", these are the same line of trees, now minus most of their leaves and taken from a different location. The sky was a bit hazey that morning and the sun not quite where a I wanted it to be. Through the trees in the background can just be seen some of Leicester's high rise tower blocks.

Fighting the strong wind on Mauna Kea while capturing the Milky Way with a 30 second exposure.

This ancient bristlecone pine tree was probably thousands of years old when it died. Another, similar tree a stone's throw away was 3,200 years old when it died in the 1600s (determined by tree ring analysis), and there are much older ones. Of course, that's nothing compared to the age of that thing rising behind it - the Milky Way galaxy. It's only fitting that these two ancients meet, if only figuratively in a photograph.
This is a single exposure of 25s at 14mm, ISO 12800, f/2.8, taken in the Bristlecone Pine forest in the Eastern Sierras, just east of Big Pine, CA.
This set of images were taken in a remote park in Osceola County and is not widely known. I only saw about one third of it but you can bet I'll go back again.

Portrait of a Tree ...
Pic in my Trees Album
Pic taken 30 July 2024
Thanks for your views, faves, invites and comments ...
Something a bit different without any birds or wildlife! It was a slow day on the water after a beautiful sunrise and so decided to focus on another of our old trees! This particular character is located about 100 yards from the pontoon boat house on Armand Bayou! It is little used during the warmer months but awaits the arrival of the Brown Pelicans which will arrive on the bayou as soon as the alligators quit hunting! As the weather cools the alligators slow down and the Pelicans return to hunt and play on the bayou! Thanks to everyone for dropping by and hope you’ll have a wonderful week!

This great white egret is sitting on a dead tree near the Old Danube. This oxbow of the Danube was created in 1851 when a bend in the river was cut through in the course of straightening the Danube. The Old Danube is part of the Gmünder Au, a nature reserve in the municipalities of Pfatter and Wörth an der Donau in the district of Regensburg. The nature reserve is characterised by extensively used meadows, ponds with siltation zones and wooded areas of the softwood floodplain. It is also a resting, breeding and wintering area for rare bird species.

Prompt: watercolor of a Downy Woodpecker, specifically a red-headed woodpecker, clinging to a vertical wooden pole with its sharp claws. The bird's black and white plumage is striking, with a red cap on its head. The background is blurred, featuring a mix of muted greens and browns, suggesting a natural, outdoor setting. The woodpecker's beak is long and pointed, and it has a small, round body. The lighting is soft and natural, highlighting the bird's feathers. The overall composition is simple and focused on the bird, with a shallow depth of field. --ar 4:5 --profile 1fenkis --v 6.1

These are some of the old Oak trees found at Pleasant Valley conservation site in Woodstock Illinois. I really like the character of these old trees.
Prompt: Photograph of a blue colored belted kingfisher bird with white around the neck, sitting on a thorny branch, in side view, full body shot, against a blue sky background. This award-winning photography is in the style of Tim Flach, capturing the bird's natural pose and expression with a shallow depth of field.

On a beautifully foggy late morning, this house came into view. Soggy, and soooo quiet except for the flock of crows playing in the ancient orchard out back. The structure looked for less than sound, so I peeked through the window but didn't venture in.
"Ghost Town" of Shelburne, OR.
I like it, dead or not, monumental in a way, with its view of the mountains, here almost invisible but a presence nonetheless.
A weathered beached piece of driftwood like sculpture set against the pristine beauty of the Pacific Ocean.

There is unrest in the forest
Trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas
The trouble with the maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade
There is trouble in the forest.......
