Coastal Redwoods are native only to the northern California and Oregon coast. But they grow ok when planted in the central valley if they are given proper care! This one is in the University of California - Davis Arboretum.
Ancient tree in Torwood Forest in Scotland. Wallace's men prepared for battle and hid in these woods before the Battle of Falkirk.

Looking through some old photos I came across these shots of old trees in the woods close to our house. They were taken in 2006 with my old Fuji camera.
Or, as Erna Bombeck said - and sadly, confirmed by Vol-au-Vent…. :-( Let me put it this way. According to my girth, I should be a 90 ft Redwood tree.
This absolutely wonderful tree stands here, on The Torre Abbey lawn:
www.torquay.com/New_Torquay/local/Torre_Abbey_torbay.htm
The large lawns are used for gatherings, picnics, kids play, teens kiss, oldies just sit or lie there, tourists are reading their programmes, language students discussing in every conceivable language except English, and I sat often there, just staring at the sea, or happily reading.
Everything in Torquay is of an old-world charm, very beautiful, relaxing; there are loads of places in this town feeling just right!

This old tree is in need of support. (I know the feeling.)
It's plainly been here a lot longer than the houses.
This is the stoutest tree in the world whose trunk girth is even larger than the biggest sequoia. It is found in the Santa Maria del Tule, Oaxaca state, Mexico. Around there are several monumental tree of the same species but this is the largest one. Unfortunately the pictures came off pretty ugly. I was sick and not in the right mood.
Taxodium mucronatum
Trunk circunference: 36.2m
Height: 35.4m
Age: anywhere between 1200 and 3000 years
beauty of an ancient tree having lost many of its lower limbs to rot and weathering but continues to withhold its stature.

Someone has tweeted this picture--if you see it, leave me a message here, OK?
It's nice to at least know when you've been 'used'.
Scarred without a fight
No scare no fright
Careless is the night
No skin no sky
Crouching in my pain
My ghost my host
Nighmaring in vain
For fear is lost
Oh...
New eyes in a spin
To stare, ti scare
Unify my skin
No share, no spare
Blessed be the monster
Escape and seek
Greeting disaster
To shield, to shreek
Oh...
My scare my scar
My broken skin
See
Through me, see
Can't you see
Through me, see..
