Old cat in Alberton, MT.

Veronica is a senior cat at the Montclair Animal Shelter, she's beleived to be 11 or 12 years old but has the looks and charm of a cat a 12th of her age. Older cats sometimes find themselves in shelters when their owners pass or have other issues that mean they cannot care for a pet. Elder cats are treated just like everyone else - and Veronica enjoys the run of the big cat room. She's a stunner!

The Montclair Animal Shelter is located at 77 North Willow Street Montclair NJ; Ph 973-744-8600; email : mtas77@verizon.net

I never got to know Kitty, even though the shop she spent her days at is just across from the bus stop we lay up at. I was saddened to hear of her passing :(

in his 20th year now and his age is beginning to become a factor although he is still as mischievious as ever and a regular in the 'naughty corner' so we're making the most of this true "Aristocat"

Moon's ears are chopped off in this photo, but it still turned out reasonably well, certainly better than the 20 other photos I shot of him that day !

Max (born 30.03.1996) half persian half siberian guard dog.

Smokey, the 16 year old tabby x russian blue chilling out and posing

A friend's cat. She's 16 years old, pretty much blind but she could sense the strobes and was getting irritated after a while. I only took about a dozen photos in five minutes or less.

Strobist: White shoot through umbrella three feet to camera left and three feet up and from subject, second back / rim light to camera right up a bit higher and 'bare bulb" SB800's on each, fired with ebay triggers.

*Silver has been ADOPTED!!

Silver was a temporary resident of the Oakville Humane Society in Oakville, Ontario, Canada.

Silver came into the shelter as a stray in October of 2008. He had originally been adopted from us in 2007 so despite his coming in as a stray we know a little bit about his history. Silver is a wonderful boy; sweet, quiet and cuddly. He's looking for a cozy and calm retirement home where he can spend his time napping in sunbeams and curling up on a warm lap. Silver has a few special medical needs that his new family should be aware of. He is prone to allergies and is quite reactive to fleabites and also has eosinophillic granuloma complex which is an inflammatory skin disease that can cause skin lesions. This is often related to allergies and currently he eats a special Hypoallergenic food and does very well on it. He also has a heart murmur but ultrasound shows that it's not causing any problems right now. Silver should live with a family who is dedicated to regular vet care and they should be prepared for possible extra expenses as he may require more frequent check ups than your average cat. He also needs a home that is committed to keeping him strictly indoors. Although he may need a little bit of extra TLC, Silver gives you back lots of love in return for all the care he gets!

Our old cat, died some month ago, at the age of 20

Moon kept following me around the house hoping I would feed him. He finally sat down and waited for me to finish fiddling with the camera. After a few minutes, when he realized there would be no treats, he went to the door and demanded to be let outside !

Gilly is now pushing 19. She's old, and it shows. There's nothing to her but skin and bones. I'm hoping that she lives out the rest of her life in peace.

my friend's old cat, this is the best light for Ninja now...

An elderly cat with extraordinary character, resting on a pavement in Valletta, Malta.

Just has to be on the table in the middle of whatever I'm doing. He's about 15 now; I'm worried because he's so skinny and in the early stages of kidney failure. I'm told that most old cats go through kidney failure as a common effect of age. It still sucks.

Here are pictures of Cosmo the cat taken during the month of March 2023 at home in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He is approaching his 17th birthday in early May, but last year, the vet noticed all sorts of old cat problems. He has cataracts, is on thyroid medicine and eating wet food - and that makes him very happy. Recently, he had a sore over his right eye. We are watching it and hoping it goes away.

19 years old when this picture was taken in the spring of 2006. He was born in Stillwater, Minnesota in the spring of 1987. He has lived in Minnesota, Texas, New Mexico, Minnesota (2nd time), and Arkansas. I guess that makes him a traveling man... Definitely a senior citizen!

Zippy falling asleep

A very senior cat, about 24 years old.

Blueboy will be 26 in January. He's getting slower and less active, sleeping more and snuggling in my lap.

Shy old lady Skibbs on a neighbour's roof

The patch just below his eye is the result of an infected tooth. He is happy to be home and is keeping close to me. Every time I take a picture of him, I think it may be the last.

He's definitely put on some weight, no longer just a skeleton with fur.

A very old cat....we think he turned 15 this year.

20 years old

died from tainted catfood

mrs. beasley, my grandma's cat, is hilarious, wise, and very affectionate.

Rama - Born in Spring of 1987. Definitely a senior citizen! Still enjoys "jungle" expeditions.
