The Omsk Drama Theatre is on the left and the Vrubel's Art Museum is the building behind. Both buildings were built in the begin of the 20th century.

Up Tap O' Noth tonight, trusting the forecast that the wind would be great for a pre-sunset flight, when in fact it was good for hiding in the lee of the fortified wall, slowly getting cold, but staying for an hour to watch rays chasing through the Cabrach.

When we're young we have faith in what is seen, but when we're old we know that what is seen is traced in air and built on water.
MAXWELL ANDERSON, Winterset
The years are long, and full of sharp, wearing days
That wear out what we are and what we have been
And change us into people we do not know,
Living among strangers.

There must be empty chairs as well "

The bridge providing access to Bermagui across Wallaga Lake is a single lane, arched timber bridge, built in 1894. It is believed to be the last of its kind in NSW. While numerous repairs have been carried out over the years, the timber form remains unchanged, and it has a 22.5 tonne load limit. There is considerable debate locally between commercial interests that seek its replacement and those who want to preserve its heritage value. It's a story repeated for other, simpler timber bridges in Bega Valley Shire, and elsewhere in the state.

This old guy looks scarred and broken, but in fact he's very well cared for at Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre in Dorset, UK.
There was very low light in his den but the sun shone allowing me to capture his portrait through the glass.
Just wonder what his thoughts might be.

One of the UK's largest moths - the Old Lady is sometimes attracted to light but is better found by putting out offerings of syrup and sugary concoctions (a little alcohol is also favoured).

After upgrading firefox for the new version (3.5.1) isn't possible to "open" this box in an editable way. The only way to edit it is with organizer.
Is there anybody that knows how to solve this?
Thank you
I found the reason of this problem in the forum: the extra "Better Flickr" is the responsable in the new version of firefox...
Thank you ** Monish ** for the tip.
A touch of filter was added to the image in post-processing.
Another drive SW and SE of Calgary, on 23 March 2023. Just needed to get out as we have more snow coming, according to the weather forecast. So, I thought I would go and see if I could find any Bald Eagles, Horned Larks, and anything else.
I did see one Bald Eagle, but it flew before I could get a photo. Just a few minutes later, though, i caught sight of a large, black bird perched on top of a power pole way down the road. When I zoomed in, I couldn't believe my good luck, as it was a Turkey Vulture. Enjoyed 10 minutes in its company, and then it decided to fly off across the fields and totally disappeared.
Over the years, I had seen several Turkey Vultures in Calgary or in the surrounding area, always spotted by one excellent birder or another. I would never have noticed them, flying so very high. In May 2018, I was lucky enough to see them in Rondeau Provincial Park, Ontario. In 2019, I also saw them in Southern Texas.
"If you’ve gone looking for raptors on a clear day, your heart has probably leaped at the sight of a large, soaring bird in the distance– perhaps an eagle or osprey. But if it's soaring with its wings raised in a V and making wobbly circles, it's likely a Turkey Vulture. These birds ride thermals in the sky and use their keen sense of smell to find fresh carcasses. They are a consummate scavenger, cleaning up the countryside one bite of their sharply hooked bill at a time, and never mussing a feather on their bald heads." From AllABoutBirds.
"What vultures lack in looks, they make up for with brains and an affectionate, fun-loving nature. Ramona VanRiper, Turkey Vulture Society president, can vouch for vultures being sweet and personable because she's known several, including one named Clem. "Vultures raised by humans learn quickly to love and trust us," she says, "and will often respond to human attention long after they have successfully reassimilated into their natural communities." Always happy to come across an old (or new) barn or an abandoned old truck or car, too.

Old Castle Street at night. The body of Alice McKenzie was found on this street in the early hours of July 17 1889. She had some mutilations, but not as severe as the known Ripper victims, so she is generally not considered to have been a victim of Jack The Ripper.
This building is the facade of the old Whitechapel Wash Houses. The spot where McKenzie was found is on the pavement about where the street light on the left is (the proximity anyway).
This street I think is still unsettling at night.
