Corfu's old town doesn't fit easily into my landscape themed feed but I really liked the light in this shot... So don't be too hard on me 😉

Have a great weekend everyone 🙌

Digitized from an old slide, I think I photographed this in the 1980's sometime. Probably in the Parker River Wildlife Refuge in Newburyport, MA.

Taken for photo challenge 2009, day 89: children

It seems so lovely and simple topic for photochallenge - children... On the first glance, it' s so easy, children aren' t insects that I couldn' t find under the snow some week ago :-) But as the day went, as more I understood how crazy this task actually is in wintertime. My 12 year old son tells he is not a child anymore, plus, he doesn' t want to be a model for photos... All outdoor attraction parks are closed, in school I couldn' t get during working time, and what is left? Some families with children on the street that I would chase like a hunter hiding behind the corners and trying to jump out and cross their way into appropriate moment? ...

Feeling desperate I went to a toy store in hope to find some kid there... but instead I stepped into a scene where I found a wild owl under the roof next to toy store... so I got unique shots thanks to this challenge... just of a bird, not a child. The owl is posted on Flickr now. Needless to say, toy store did not grant me with any kids nicely playing around shelves.

So it' s quite late, and my last escape is the child I had been once myself... here it is. This photo is one of first colour photos in my family album, and it' s taken by my grandfather, photographer, who lived long and fulfilled life, 101 year...

An old one room schoolhouse in rural Matheson Ontario. My Dad attended this school from 1933 until I think 1940, and prior to that my Grandmother from what I understand was a teacher in this school. It was located a short 2 mile walk from my grandparent's homestead. My Dad would walk this route to school in temperatures during the winter as low as -30c. If I remember the story correctly, he had to walk uphill both ways lol :-)

Some of my favorite screenshots I've taken.

Old barns are always fun to photograph. This one was so unique, I had to stop for a shot before it's gone

Old shed and live oak tree covered in Spanish moss.

Spanish moss was given its name by French explorers. Native Americans told them the plant was called Itla-okla, which meant “tree hair.” The French were reminded of the Spanish conquistadors’ long beards, so they called it Barbe Espagnol, or “Spanish Beard.” The Spaniards got back at them by calling the plant Cabello Francés, or “French Hair.” The French name won out, and as time went by Spanish Beard changed to Spanish moss.

I set off form the great ocean road 2 days ago with the main goal of getting a shot of this iconic pier over the next 7 days or so before I duck back to Sydney for a few days.

From about lunch time today I had my eye on the forming clouds just hoping they would hang around until sunset. They didn't, they rarely do. However this set rolled over the horizon and put on a real welcome to SA show.

Uploading late as it took me ages to align the pano, I hadn't though to re-adjust the pivot point on my pano head for the new lens. So I had to manually align then use auto blend cs5, got there in the end.

Grafton and Upton train GU1 has three units and only two cars as they roll south on this twisting and undulating interurban style route cutting through the fields delineated by ancient stone walls approaching the Old Upton Road grade crossing at MP 4.5. MP15ACs 1160 and 1191 (blt. Oct. 1977 and Feb. 1978 as SCL 4221 and 4010 respectively) bracket GP9R 1751 (blt. Nov. 1958 as a GP9 for the GTW numbered 4932). The lead unit still wears its patched CSXT blue and yellow while the two trailing units are dressed in the new black and orange livery the railroad has recently adopted.

Old building begins his road to renewal.

When I saw him I had to take a picture.

The old lady will regain her radiance again.

Don't ya know this place would have plenty of stories to tell. Impressive building just off the RR tracks that run through this small town.
