Got some new gear yesterday including these bad boys.
You know you need new clothes when your parents claim you have no clothes :l
I feel really weird, I feel both ill and not ill simultaneously and I'm so hungry and I've eating so much today...bleh
edit:
the trousers are new too :)
Limited Edition shoe that the Vans store i work at is carrying right now. I believe we are only getting one shipment of the OTW collection and my manager said only 10 stores in the United States carries them!!!! So i picked up a pair while i still could!
B800 camera left
Here are my Vans. These are temperamental shoes. Some day they give me blisters, others they don't, they're wierd. But I love them. My "Chef Shoes"
"Out of curiosity, why footwear?" asks David. To be honest, I don't know why footwear. I saw DOM¿N!C's shot and wanted to run with it for a little while, his shot was cool, I had some cool kicks to experiment with.
I tried light writing, and sort of exhausted that idea. I did drawings for a while; my favourite light drawn shot still hasn't made Explore. Now I'm using still life as a painting medium. I did traffic trails for a little while, maybe I'll revisit that. I've done nature, I didn't do that very well, mainly because the weather was pants for it. I've done travel, I loved that, but it's kind of expensive so I'll eventually revisit travel photography. In May I'll hopefully be allowed to take some shots in the airport - I'd like to be able to do that, within reason of course. I don't have a tripod, so my light painting is somewhat limited. I can't go out and shoot abandoned buildings because there are none nearby, and I'm way too scared of being caught and told off.
If anyone has any ideas of what else I could/should paint with, still life wise, feel free to put it out there, I'll try anything once. I think (!) I'm in the early stages of a LP project with GauravK. We're collaborating over some LPs I'm in the process of painting, and trying to find a medium/perfect shot to run with and edit. I'm up for a collaboration with anyone, I'd be honoured if anyone wanted to run with me on any sort of idea.

Gone too Soon
Say what you will about the strangeness of him as a man, he was a phenomenal talent and carved a part in Pop history that is without parallel
I'm beyond sad -- I became a Michael Jackson fan from the very beginning with the Jackson Five. I'm in shock.... he was my first crush.
Three of my photos were selected to be on display as part of the “Off the Walls” holiday exhibit at the Market Street Art Center in Lockport, New York. One of them, shown on the right, is “Mabry Mill with April Flowers.” The photos will remain on display through January 5, 2009 … Unless somebody buys them first!
This one where the sketch worked out better than the painting. The man has 3 faces and in the sketch the hat continually shape shifts the face. It does it also in the painting but it isn`t as dominant. I am dealing with or discovering laws of illusion. And at this point I am in unchartered waters.
Vans team rider Daniel Sandoval took the win today at the 2014 Vans Off the Wall BMX Invitational as part of the 52nd Annual Coastal Edge East Coast Surfing Championships (CE-ECSC) in Virginia Beach, Virginia. CE-ECSC is the largest and most anticipated action sports festival on the East Coast and the action and energy on the BMX park course did not disappoint.
The course was expanded this year to allow for plenty of lines and variety to go with the huge tricks thrown down in previous years. The crowd and riders gave it their seal of approval by “cranking it to 11″ from start to finish.
Gary Young was the top rider in Prelims on Friday, yet all 18 riders in the event rode great, reflected by the fact that less than 10 points separated Gary from 18th place.
Jason Watts from Brisbane, Australia made the most of his summer in the states by following up his third place finish at the Van Doren Invitational with a solid fifth place finish here. Boomerang airs and brakeless nosemanuals flowed together with huge tricks over the box. Fellow Aussie Ryan Guettler landed in fourth place with a one-handed table flip, huge flair, and the transfer of the weekend – an alleyoop 720 from spine to box.
Despite tweaking his knee during his top scoring prelim run, Gary Young followed up his big win at the Van Doren Invitational with a third place finish in Virginia Beach. He blasted the quarter pipe higher than anyone while riding in typical Gary fashion – fast and flowing with unique lines the other riders were blown away by.
Scotty Cranmer’s runs were unreal. He finished .20 behind the winner, despite a fall at the end of his second run which was full of highlights – a massive double tailwhip flip over the box, a clean 720 over the spine straight into a fufanu to icepick to turndown on the wallride.
Last year’s second place rider, Daniel Sandoval, moved to the top of the podium this year. In addition to his big tricks over the box, Daniel did huge double whips on the quarter pipe, a double whip over the channel, a 900 and a vader scuff nosemanual to add some lip trick variety.
“I am so excited to take home the win,” said Daniel Sandoval. “After placing second last year, I was super fired up to come back to Virginia Beach this year. Thanks to Vans for supporting this event, it’s always great to come out and compete in such a fun city.”
The vibe throughout the week at the Vans Off the Wall BMX Invitational was reminiscent of the Vans Triple Crown of BMX series that ran from 2001-2004. The insane level of riding was surpassed only by the amount of fun had by all.
Got a chance to shoot on the North Shore today and decided to head to the Pipeline-Backdoor-Off-the-wall area, instead of watching the surf contest finals at Haleiwa. Some folks out here today were tearing holes in the waves and I tried diligently to capture that action. I was using a slower shutter speed for most of the shots and trying to show the motion and ferocity of these surfers. Here are a few of the results... As always, "Thanks" for visiting my photostream and leaving any comments about my pictures. Have a great rest of the weekend!
Notice how the cat has caught the mouse, but really isn`t into the whole cat/mouse thing. More of my work can be seen at www3.sympatico.ca/jim.rowe2/
30"Wx26"H It is a week and a half away from my first significant art show(in quite a while), in Cobourg, at their Canada Day festival. I have done 3 gallery shows(in the distant past) and found no one came to them. Then I went through a lengthy period where I did nothing. Now I am back painting and exhibiting. The trick is to find where people go to look at art, and be there.
I encourage everyone to check out the 3 groups that I have formed.

The art work is of a certain style, so it is a very select artist segment that is invited to exhibit. Also, I run these groups like a directory, with only one sample per artist, this way nobody gets lost in the crowd. And if anyone wants to see more, they just follow the link to the artist`s site.
2nd pair of corduroy shorts and I LOVE 'em. I now has black and brown! oot oot!
I've recently become addicted to saying "oot oot". I think it might involve my love for owls and how they hoot. But I like spelling it 'oot'!
I has hairy legs :3
+1 in comments.... OF A STOOL!
Off the Wall, once a nightclub, has been closed for almost 20 years but the building still stands and is still for sale.
Made #33 in Explore.
I went to the dollar store and picked up a couple of really good plungers so I could climb some buildings in Detroit.
It was fun, but really a strain on my arms. I'm going to use the elevator from now on.
Day 172
26"Wx34"H, This is my new favourite, I just love this one, paintings like this make it all worth doing. And you are going wonder what I mean by that. I find that this art thing is boring , a struggle, and alot of times I feel that I am not getting anywhere, then a painting like this is created. (To fully appreciate it, you can enlarge it with the above magnifying glass "all sizes" icon)
I encourage everyone to check out the 3 groups that I have formed.
