Got a chance to shoot on the North Shore today and decided to head to the Pipeline-Backdoor-Off-the-wall area, instead of watching the surf contest finals at Haleiwa. Some folks out here today were tearing holes in the waves and I tried diligently to capture that action. I was using a slower shutter speed for most of the shots and trying to show the motion and ferocity of these surfers. Here are a few of the results... We were canoeing with another couple, the woman in the canoe ahead took off her top, so I paddled like hell to catch up and check her out, she saw me coming and put her top on. Later I painted this. More of my work can be seen at www3.sympatico.ca/jim.rowe2/
Don't have many water shots due to lack of swell. When the contest was running it was pumping I mean pumping.
This was an ok day at offthewall but then again an ok day in Hawaii is an excellent day elsewhere :0)
Shooting in the water at offthewalll is a bit sketchy cause if the wave catches you, you know you gonna eat the reef and your ass will pinball all over the place. ISN'T THAT FUN!!!
26"Wx36"H For me ,to create an optical illusion is a pretty rare event. When I stumble on to one, it`s a big deal. I get excited about it . Lots of people copy other peoples (like Ester`s) concepts, this is stuff that I come up with on my own, maybe it has been done before, but I have no previous knowledge of it, these optical illusions are my discoveries, and I hope I get credit when they are coppied and used. I would have liked to have painted this one alot larger.

The art work is of a certain style, so it is a very select artist segment that is invited to exhibit. Also, I run these groups like a directory, with only one sample per artist, this way nobody gets lost in the crowd. And if anyone wants to see more, they just follow the link to the artist`s site.

36"Hx26"W I called this "thoughts" for lack of a better title. Today the heat wave has ended so I will be out working on the wood pile. I heat my house with wood. It`s been good weather for producing art work though.
