This is Nathan. He's in the band Smashy Claw. They have asked me to help them come up with some images for their next album. For the next several days I will attempt to create something that will dazzle them. This is the first of such attempts. We spent last evening at a local hobby store where I was able to take many photos to get the ball rolling. It's not certain if any of my images will actually get used, but I'm excited to try. They want something weird, and weird is one of my specialties. :)
If you enjoy music like Weird Al, They Might Be Giants, or Jonathan Coulton...you should definitely check them out.
I just got back from my second trip to O'ahu Hawaii. Again, it was incredible! This time, thanks to my buddy Chris, I got to bring a Canon EF 200-400mm f/4L IS USM Lens with Built-in 1.4x Extender. What a sweet lens, that I will never be able to afford! But of course thanks to my buddy Cole for hosting me. One of my main goals for this trip was to work on a Part 2 of my Modern Surf Series. View Part 1: bit.ly/18uYsFk. I wanted to take a more artistic approach rather then documenting surf from a journalism approach. I bumped down the f-stop to f/30 - f/45 and worked on my panning. I never knew how hard this was. I maybe got 20 decent pans where the surfer had some sharp points. But even some that where blurred and more abstract, I enjoyed regardless of the imperfection. So here is my second take on surfing, I hope you enjoy and feel free to share!

This Moment
A neighbourhood.
At dusk.
Things are getting ready
to happen
out of sight.
Stars and moths.
And rinds slanting around fruit.
But not yet.
One tree is black.
One window is yellow as butter.
A woman leans down to catch a child
who has run into her arms
this moment.
Stars rise.
Moths flutter.
Apples sweeten in the dark.

The art work is of a certain style, so it is a very select artist segment that is invited to exhibit. Also, I run these groups like a directory, with only one sample per artist, this way nobody gets lost in the crowd. And if anyone wants to see more, they just follow the link to the artist`s site.
So far Hawaii as been real good! Been shooting so much surf that I haven't really had time to go through much of them. It sure is nice to be using a 200-400mm with a built in 1.4x extender. Thanks Chris
As you probably already know, I am working on some more of my Modern series! So for this I have been practice my blurring in camera. By putting my f stop above 20 it allows me to follow the surfer while leaving the shutter open longer. It is way more difficult then I thought it was going to be. I definitely got lucky and have a bunch more to share!
Now back to shooting!
This painting belongs to the permanent collection in the Northumberland Art Gallery in Coburg. I couldn`t belive it when they approached me about aquiring it. Needless to say, this sort of thing doesn`t happen too often.

32"Wx26"H This is an experiment that I spent a way too long on. I tried to create an optical illusion abstract.
I have an exibit at the "Art Cafe" on flickr at www.flickr.com/groups/globalworldawards/discuss/721576230... I have judged these images as the top 20 of my paintings.
i've never seen so many vans stickers in my life.

this was taken by my camera, but edited on iPhone.
#331: i leave my homework 'til the last minute. and when that fails, i do it at school, in between classes.
From the British coastline to the rooftops of Manhattan, Antony Gormley’s sculptures are recognised across the world. This iron cast of his body, one of a group named Lost Horizon I, defies gravity high up on a wall in the Royal Academy of Arts.
The bibles on their head represent shelter. They are using their religion to somehow shelter them from the world around them.
A shot from my newly released surf series. This is shot of my buddy Kaito, who kills it!

I don`t have a clue what this is about or what to call it. More of my work can be seen at www3.sympatico.ca/jim.rowe2/
With the idea being that you should not take stuff too seriously especially yourself these three cabbage trees in National Park made me turn around and find a half decent shot of them. Sometimes you get attracted to something which at the time you cannot put your finger on why. But with some fun processing they took on another life. Sometimes you just need that third eye to see things...must be a moral there somewhere.
