C'è un'ampia offerta lungo l'assolata spiaggia di Boa Viagem a Recife. Tutte le mattine (anche quando avevo fatto le ore piccole), dopo aver fatto colazione in albergo, alle 9 ero accomodato su una delle sdraio di Carlos (uno dei padroni delle baracche della spiaggia) e, fino al pomeriggio, bevevo il latte e mangiavo la polpa di 3 o più noci di cocco e, talvolta, mi facevo friggere uno di questi enormi branzini
O Coliseu, também conhecido como Anfiteatro Flaviano, deve seu nome à expressão latina Colosseum (ou Coliseus, no latim tardio), devido à estátua colossal de Nero, que ficava perto a edificação. Localizado no centro de Roma, é uma excepção de entre os anfiteatros pelo seu volume e relevo arquitectónico. Originalmente capaz de abrigar perto de 50 000 pessoas, e com 48 metros de altura, era usado para variados espetáculos. Foi construído a leste do Fórum Romano e demorou entre oito a dez anos a ser construído.
O Coliseu foi utilizado durante aproximadamente 500 anos, tendo sido o último registro efetuado no século VI da nossa era, bastante depois da queda de Roma em 476. O edifício deixou de ser usado para entretenimento no começo da Idade Média, mas foi mais tarde usado como habitação, oficina, forte, pedreira, sede de ordens religiosas e templo cristão.
Embora esteja agora em ruínas devido a terremotos e pilhagens, o Coliseu sempre foi visto como símbolo do Império Romano, sendo um dos melhores exemplos da sua arquitectura. Actualmente é uma das maiores atrações turísticas em Roma e em 7 de julho de 2007 foi eleita umas das "Sete maravilhas do mundo moderno". L'anfiteatro è stato edificato su un'area al limite orientale del Foro Romano. La sua costruzione fu iniziata da Vespasiano nel 72 d.C. e fu inaugurato da Tito nell'80 d.C., con ulteriori modifiche apportate durante il regno di Domiziano. Non più in uso dopo il VI secolo, l'enorme struttura venne variamente riutilizzata nei secoli, anche come cava di materiale. E' che non mi va di essere buggerato.
Così la mattina dopo racconto subito l'accaduto alla vecchia cameriera. E lei mi fa: "quanti soldi avevi messo nella cassettina?"
ed io: "una moneta da 50 bath" (che equivale a circa 1 euro e mezzo)
lei: "non va bene, troppo poco, per un grosso desiderio devi mettere una grossa offerta"

lei: "no monete, va bene un biglietto da 20 euro"
Così eccomi di ritorno dal nostro Budda, e questa volta metto nella cassettina un biglietto da 100 euro. Poi me ne vado, ma non prima di averlo fotografato: Non vi pare che mi stia sorridendo? vi giuro che in alcuni momenti sembrava addirittura che mi facesse l'occhiolino.
La mattina dopo racconto tutto alla cameriera che mi fa: "sembra che il Big Buddha abbia scelto la spiaggia per esaudire i tuoi desideri, è là che devi ritornare".
Tutto speranzoso prendo la borsa da bagno e corro in spiaggia.
Ma come arrivo in prossimità del mio lettino capisco che gli usi e costumi thailandesi non fanno per me e scappo in aeroporto per prendere il primo aereo per l'Italia!
Perché?
Perché nel lettino vicino al mio non c'era più la bella e maliziosa orientale, bensì due grossi lottatori di Sumo! :((

ho trascorso quasi 10 anni su quelle navi di pirati dove si rischiava la vita tutti i giorni. La svolta capitò a Mar del Plata, quando sbarcò il Comandante ed io assunsi il comando della nave.

Accettai immediatamente ed eccomi sul Ponte di Comando, in navigazione Los Angeles-Messico nel mio turno da mezzanotte alle 04,00. Indosso l'uniforme col fiocchetto al posto della cravatta abituale perchè fino a mezzanotte ero stato nel salone del Ponte Principale a ballare ed intrattenere le passeggere. Ve lo giuro, anche questo faceva parte dei miei compiti. Chi è stato in crociera con la Costa o con la Msc penserà che sono un bugiardo perchè su quelle navi il rapporto equipaggio-passeggeri è visto malissimo, si rischia lo sbarco immediato, qui invece era ben caldeggiato

Parte del complesso del Ulun Danu Temple, uno dei più famosi templi hindu di Bali, ubicato nel Lago Beratan, e circondato dalle montagne di Bodugul. Le acque del lago alimentano l'intera regione intorno a Bodugul rendendola estremamente fertile tanto che Il lago è conosciuto come "Il Lago della Montagna Sacra".
Il tempio fu eretto nel 1663 ed è tuttora utilizzato per le cerinomie di offerta alla dea Balinese Dewi Danu, protettrice del lago e dell'acqa, a sottolineare l'importanza del Lago Baratan come sorgente principale di irrigazione nel centro di Bali.
The Ulun Danu Temple complex is located on the shores of Lake Beratan in the mountains near Bedugul. Water temples serve the entire region in the outflow area; downstream there are many smaller water temples that are specific to each irrigation association.
Built in 1663, this temple is used for offerings ceremony to the Balinese water, lake and river goddess Dewi Danu, due to the importance of Lake Beratan as a main source of irrigation in central Bali.
Lake Beratan is known as the Lake of Holy Mountain due to the fertility of this area.

Varadamudra
Il Varada Mudra – o “Gesto del dono” – indica offerta, benvenuto e carità compassionevole.
Normalmente è un gesto compiuto con la mano sinistra, direzionata verso il basso e con il palmo rivolto all’esterno. Spesso questo mudra viene confuso con il Vitarka mudra e con il Bhumisparsha mudra, che gli somigliano molto.
Normalmente si associa all’ Abhaya mudra, eseguito con l’altra mano.

La Valle dei Templi - Tempio di Zeus (ruderi).
Gli agrigentini, dopo la splendida vittoria conseguita sui Cartaginesi a Himera (480- 479), eressero, secondo il costume greco, come offerta di ringraziamento a Zeus, un monumento di vittoria che, per le sue proporzioni, era uno dei più grandiosi dell’antichità.
Il tempio è un edificio essenzialmente dorico.
Era di forma pseudoperiptera, vale a dire non circondato da colonne libere, bensì da semicolonne, sette nei lati brevi e quattordici nei lati lunghi, che ritmavano lo sviluppo di un muro continuo, nel quale le semicolonne inserite si trasformavano in pilastri quadrangolari verso l’interno.
L’immensa piattaforma rettangolare, che poteva essere raggiunta per mezzo di cinque gradoni, era rivolta ad oriente e misurava m. 113, 20 in linghezza e m 56 in larghezza, un doppio quadrato che occupa una superficie di mq.6407.
In ogni campana gli intercolumni, troppo vasti, erano occupati dai Telamoni o Atlanti, gigantesche figure maschili lunghe m.7,61. Lo storico Tommaso Fazello, il quale può dirsi lo scopritore del grandioso tempio, ci dice che gli ultimi avanzi caddero a terra il 9 Dicembre 1401.
The Valley of the Temples - Temple of Zeus (ruins).
After the splendid victory achieved over the Carthaginians in Himera (480-479), the people of Agrigento erected, according to the Greek custom, as an offering of thanks to Zeus, a victory monument which, due to its proportions, was one of the most grandiose of the antiquity.
The temple is essentially a Doric building.
It was pseudoperipterous in shape, that is, not surrounded by free columns, but by semi-columns, seven on the short sides and fourteen on the long sides, which punctuated the development of a continuous wall, in which the inserted semi-columns were transformed into quadrangular pillars towards the internal.
The immense rectangular platform, which could be reached by means of five steps, faced east and measured m. 113, 20 in length and 56 m in width, a double square that occupies an area of 6407 square meters.
In each bell the intercolumniations, too vast, were occupied by the Telamons or Atlantes, gigantic male figures 7,61 meters long.
The historian Tommaso Fazello, who can be said to be the discoverer of the grandiose temple, tells us that the last remains fell to the ground on 9 December 1401.

Joyce arrivò a Trieste il 20 ottobre 1904, attratto dall'offerta di un posto di insegnante alla Berlitz School.

Joyce arrived in Trieste on October 20, 1904, drawn by the offer of a teaching position at the Berlitz School.
One of his students in Trieste is Ettore Schmitz (better known under the pseudonym of Italo Svevo); they met in 1907 and became friends, exchanging mutual criticism. This is as it is today the Cathedral of St.Just after two churches ( St.Mary the Assumpted and the second ,a votive chapel with square plant devoted to St.Just were combined ,the sacrificing of each internal nave ,to the right for the first ,left for the second ,to make the nave . And 'was necessary to build the apse for the great nave ,while the sides of the two central aisles of the two pre-existing churches ,have become the first side aisles : St. Mary Assumpted and St.Just ,left and right .
The church of St.Just is shorter then that of St.Mary ,because basically it is the Batipstery which remained the Batipstery of the Cathedral .The Batipstery of St.Mary(which is on the outside of the church ) was allocated to anoter use .The large apse was embellished by a mosaic recalling the destroyed XIIIth century fresco representing the crowning of the virgin .The decoration was offered to the town in occasion of the XIVth year of the reunion of Trieste to Italy .
This is a church to 1 nave and 4 aisle .
Questa è come si presenta oggi la Cattedrale di S. Giusto dopo che le due chiese ( S. Maria Assunta e S ..Giusto) sono state unite sacrificando di ognuna la navata interna (destra per la prima e sinistra per la seconda ) per ricavarci la navata centrale .E' stato necessario costruire l'Abside grande per tale navata ,mentre ai lati le due navate centrali delle due chiese preesistenti sono divenute prime navate laterali: S Maria Assunta a sinistra e S.Giusto an destra.
La Chiesa di S. Giusto è più corta di quella di S.Maria poichè la parte in fondo alla chiesa è occupata dal Battistero che è rimasto come Battistero della Cattedrale .Il Battistero di S.Maria ( che era di lato alla navata esterna ) è stato destinato ad altro uso .
La grande abside fu abbellita con un mosaico che rappresenta il distrutto affresco del XIII secolo recante l'Incoronazione della Vergine .
La decorazione fu offerta dalla città in occasione del XIV anniversario della riunione di Trieste all'Italia .
Questa è una chiesa a una navata centrale e 4 navate laterali !

Lo sapevate ? Nel linguaggio dei fiori la camelia esprime ammirazione per qualcuno ed è il simbolo della devozione eterna tra innamorati.
Il significato più importante è il sacrificio , cioè pegno ed impegno ad affrontare ogni sacrificio in nome dell'amore.

Una maschera verde indossata da un Atsara (il clown rituale) simboleggia una figura che esiste tra i mondi: non è un monaco, non è una divinità e non è un demone. È una specie di imbroglione, capace di oltrepassare i confini e infrangere le regole.
La sciarpa bianca simboleggia purezza, auspicio favorevole e un passaggio sicuro attraverso gli ostacoli. Quando un Atsara tocca uno spettatore con la sciarpa, si crede che trasmetta benedizioni e buona fortuna. Per questo motivo le persone fanno delle offerte. Visto che anch'io ero stato toccato dalla sciarpa ho pensato che giusto per sicurezza, era meglio fare un'offerta....
