After shooting the Opening Doors art exhibition for Mercy Hospice Auckland, I was asked back to help in a different way.

Meliame was an “in-patient”, and too unwell to join her family at home for Christmas. So the lovely Viv James (The Opening Doors Co-ordinator), arranged to have her family join her for some family photos. Mercy even provided the Christmas tree! In this photo, Meliame is with her sisters.

It was to be the first of many shoots organised by Viv, and Mercy Hospice, for those they tirelessly care for. It’s been an amazing experience.

Singapore: As Filipino helpers (or maids, though I prefer "helpers") and other foreign workers meet each other on their Sunday off, this paves the scene for many warm smiles, laughter and hugging. Here a friend helps another try on a new necklace. An inexpensive accessory, but the smiles and warmth makes it most precious.

It's an #offday 😁 can you spot the #birdie???? Sorry @varundvn sorry @thejohnabraham have fun at shoot today!!! 😜😜 #happyfeet @schollindia #dhishoom #morocco #marrakesh 💛💛💛

Many years ago, I'd like to stress on this subject but i never get the time to elaborate my feeling about it.

I hate to explain things especially when people think i am trying to looking for great excuses, by covering my absences upon all the event that i couldn't make it.

But when time comes and the mood goes by, i think it is good to cascade the message to all people who reading this. Different professions come with different career path, some job scope required shift-works to maintain the Day-to-Day Operation. Organization like the blue chip, Mc'D, take it as for instance. Those crews and branches required to operate 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. I do respect them, and deeply understood the nature of the job. Some people just complain why would he/she can't even score 1 in the attendance of outing or gathering.

The point i'd like to highlight is, why couldn't you think about the challenges and difficulties on shift patterns. The roster and the manpower resources are on the lean line, the only sufficient resources to support the Operation Models. Not to mentioned the unforeseen circumstances, like Medical Leave(s), Emergency Leave(s), and even Planned Leave(s). When situation comes to this, those resources really have a hard time to maintain the operation support, especially if you could imagine about the Investment banking Production Support.

Meanwhile, I do hope everyone could really understand, digest and stop blaming those chaps whose job natures on 24 x 7 x 365. Please google it how tough is the life they're experiencing it. Also, sometimes when they are on Medical Leave or if they are on offday, due to the insufficient resources. Employee might need to be called for duty if that kinda worse case scenario just happen unexpectedly. You will surprise to see this in real life, I am the good example to set of.

U must see this on large View On Black

Hamish Trounson is a fantastically talented photographer, with a huge heart.

In December 2011, at a time many families are preparing for their holidays, Chante’s family were spending quality time with her. They weren’t sure she would make it to Christmas Day.

Chante, a teenager battling cancer, wanted some nice photos taken with her sister. It was Hamish that stepped up to help.

Due to her illness, and the treatment she undertook to fight it, Chante’s skin was causing her some embarrassment. So the word went out for a retoucher, and mutual contacts put us in touch.

There are many, many photographers out there giving generously to the world. Thank Hamish by booking your next portrait session with him!

Note: The images attached are not the final works produced by Hamish. They’re early (heavily cropped) examples of one of my favourite shots.
