I took my new 1D Mk IV for its first Action hitout this morning, more to get used to the setup of the Auto Focus (all 60 or so custom functions, 50 pages of reading in the manual and a separate 50 page white paper from Canon ... ) and I was really impressed with the way it operated essentially straight 'out of the box'
Do I need more time to get used to it, and fine tune it ... you bet !
One thing that really put a smile on my face this morning was just how beautifully AutoISO works on this thing ... just set the shutter speed and aperture you want, and with the absolutely spot on exposure .... worrying about changing lighting conditions are now a dim dark memory ;-)
Is the image quality as good as my 5D Mk II ... nope
Do I care ... no way :-)
Way back in the day,I used to enjoy drawing and painting stuff like this. Since starting photography and spending more time on the internet, I hardly ever make time to do anything like that.
These are some odd self portraits I've had a dabble at today, anyway. The profile/ face-on one is one is an idea I've just copied from many other people I've seen do similar shots on the internet.
Our family had a giggle at the odd shape of this tomato - the only odd one out of the fifty or so on the tomato bushes.

This is another Canon FD 50mm 1.8 reversal. I'm in love with the bokeh from this lens. =)
I you guys are curious, it was with the 50mm in this past shot I have here.

This is a shot of some weird plant with spiky fruit that started growing out of my compost pile. The plant is about 3.5ft tall, and maybe 4ft wide. The spiny fruit/nut things grow in between the intersections of it's rather large leaves. I have no idea what type of plant this is.

We went to Muir Woods to see redwoods yesterday. It just happened that all the females were together with just one husband. So I told him he had to pose as my odd one. This trip is especially fun as Danny and I started first grade together so he is a lifelong friend.
ANSH: odd one out

Sorry for the craptastic photo, but the sun wasn't cooperating and as you can see, the building is being remodeled. Oh yeah, I had to crop out the john that's in front of the door.
