No photoshop manipulation. I tinkered it all by my self. The eye comes out of a magazine and I glued it from the inside of tthe egg. I also glued the Barbielegs to the egg.

A macro shot of my older poker dice from the 1950s, taken for my Macro Mondays group, “Board game pieces” theme (dice were accepted).
This is probably one of the last photos I will ever take with my trusty Micro–Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 macro lens. I bought it in March 2008 and it served me well for a solid 13–year stint and a slew of assorted photographs, not all of them macros, far from it!
Now, however, with the advent of mirrorless and the Z mount, it is time to move on. I have already pre–ordered a copy of the new 105mm f/2.8 S that has just been announced by Nikon, and I wil soon put my old friend to auction on eBay, in the hope of finding a new home and a new owner who will appreciate it as much as I have over all those years together.
This is also the first time I use the new geared head that I purchased recently, a Benro GD3WH (a mouthful!) which I thought would serve me better for architectural shots than tha Leofoto panoramic head I have been using these past few months. We will see. The Benro seems to work fine. Of course, it is a lot bulkier and almost double the weight, but it does allow for much more precise adjustments.
Strobist and technical: one Phottix Pro Indra500 monolight on a Profoto light stand in Rembrandt position to camera right, 1.5 meters from subject and 1 meter above it, firing at 1/8 power through a Phottix Pro 110–cm Luna octabox with double diffuser; and one Phottix Pro Mitros+ cobra flash on its table stand in backlit Rembrandt position to camera left, 1.5 meters from subject and at about the same height, firing at 1/8 power through its diffusion dome.
Strobes set and triggered via Phottix Pro Odin II radio controller on the Nikon Z7 hot shoe, manual mode. Sekonic L–858D light meter used to balance light sources. Gitzo GT2530 tripod with Benro GD3WH geared head. Nikon Z7 camera body, Micro–Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 VR macro lens with FTZ adapter.

Originally painted sky blue, this is a genuine World War I steel helmet from the French army. It has been in the family on my mother’s side since then.
For this 1:1 macro shot, I used my new Micro–Nikkor 85mm f/2.8 PC–E tilt–shift and macro lens. Natively, it can only achieve 1:2, but in this case, I added a Fotodiox Pro extension tube to reach life size. I used it because it is also a tilt–shift lens and I tilted it almost all the way to get all of what I wanted in focus.
Shot taken for the “Macro Mondays” group, Rusty theme.
Strobist and technical: One Phottix Pro Indra500 monolight on a Manfrotto cantileverd giraffe light stand in zenithal position (angled towards camera), 1.3 meters above subject, firing at ¼ power through a Luxlight 30 × 140–cm strip box with double diffuser; and another Indra500 studio strobe on a Profoto light stand in Rembrandt position to camera left, 1.5 meters from subject and 1 meter above it, firing at ¼ power through a 110–cm Luna octabox with double diffuser. White card reflector to camera right.
Strobes set and triggered via Phottix Pro Odin II radio controller on the Nikon Z7 hotshoe, manual mode. Sekonic L–858D light meter used to balance light sources. Gitzo GR3543XLS tripod with Arca–Swiss Cube C1 geared head. Nikon Z7 camera body, PC-E Micro-Nikkor 85mm f/2.8D tilt–shift lens with FTZ adapter, Fotodiox Pro 15–mm extension tube.

This was a shot I took last summer while at the Linda Vista Hospital...the same day as this shot. More and more lately when I used strobe I try to balance the strobes with the ambient light. I think a common thing a strobist do when they start out is to overpower the ambient light to achieve that "strobist" look. There are so many different effects one can achieve when using strobes...try not to confine yourself to one "look".

I've been home for the last 4 months. Home to me is a place in central Africa called CONGO (Republic of)... I think sometimes you need to go back to your roots and think about your life and come up with a new plan. I can't say that I've been thinking about life a lot but I do know that coming back home has allowed me to see my photography in a different way.
I've decided to work on some portraits that will really capture the people of my country in the simplest way possible and so far this portrait of Bruno is one of my favorite portraits I have taken since coming back home.
Bruno is a 10 years old boy from the Congo who spends his weekends working with his dad. Him and his dad help tourists and other visitors to cross a river on a Mokoro (african canoe), they also take people on a “promenade” around the river so people can experience this unique African adventure. I actually printed this image and I went to give it to him...
