超級精采的隙頂一日遊,本來身在一片霧茫茫之中,在太陽快下山的前25分鐘,開始撥雲見日,真是令人難忘的一天!

Northern Lights corona above MS Richard With during a winter voyage between North Cape and Kirkenes. A corona occurs when the aurora appears directly overhead, with the curtains of light seeming to radiate outwards and dance around the observer. Captured after 11 p.m. from the ship’s top observation deck, looking steeply upwards past the funnel towards the zenith. With the Hurtigruten emblem on the funnel, the photo also highlights Norway’s historic mail ship line, connecting coastal towns between Bergen and Kirkenes since 1893.

Auttiköngäs is one of the best places to visit in Rovaniemi for nature lovers. From dense forests to spectacular waterfalls, this area boasts breathtaking beauty. Auttiköngäs is a perfect destination for a day out. Here stands a rocky observation tower that offers a stunning view of the surroundings, including a beautiful winter's vista over the snow-capped peaks. The Kuusamontie Nature Tower is located 70 km east of Rovaniemi. The main attraction of the area is the 16-meter-high Auttiköngäs waterfalls. The forest in the Auttiköngäs area is so ancient that it can be considered a primary or pristine forest. The massive nature tower sits atop the rocky peak along the Auttiköngäs Nature Trail, 200 m above sea level. Accessible via a staircase and a platform, you can reach the observation deck. The tower is roofed and surrounded by a stunning ancient forest atop a hill, offering a magnificent view of the surrounding hills and the snow-capped peaks. Tables and benches are placed beside the nature tower. The location is equipped with a campfire pit, benches, a woodshed, and an annex. The annex features a natural stone fireplace, perfect for roasting sausages and brewing coffee. It also includes a large table and benches. Firewood is available in the nearby woodshed.

Auttiköngäs is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Finland, surrounded by the tranquility of the taiga forest. The Auttikönkä nature trail takes you over the waterfall, into the primeval forest, and towards the rocks. An interesting and diverse nature trail begins on the premises of the wooden café-restaurant Pirttikahvila. The popular Auttikönkää nature trail can be traversed on foot even in winter. Please be aware that especially stairs and hills can be very slippery, as there is no winter maintenance on the route. Photo of BieJee walking towards the Kuusamontie observation deck.

The observation deck in Chimgan, accessible by cable car. A young boy decided to play snowballs with his parents, but they don't know it yet.

Forgive the foreground detail. Cropping didn't quite cut it for me. Anyway, it sort of adds to the "can't-quite-get-a-few-minutes-alone" feeling that's so prevalent in NYC. Don't fall!

From this location, Sable can watch and intercept all comings and goings through the house, as well as keep an eye on the front door and living room areas. She rarely misses anything under her watch.

I managed to persuade everyone that it would be a good idea if we visited the Empire State Building observation deck at midnight! Haha. So pleased I did, as this was our last evening and I didn't want to miss out! I don't think these buildings look real but they were I was standing there looking at them. Brill moments ;o)))

A visitor descends from the observation deck at Hiyajo Banta, a precipitous 200-meter-high cliff located along Prefectural Highway No. 242 on the way from Hiyajo Village through Aka Village on Kume island, Okinawa, Japan. The lookout offers superb views over the northeast coast of Kume island.

Landies and Gentleman - Let me present Reality #15 - This micro-world was once perfectly balanced, until we introduced a creature called man; It is now overrun with them.

We've tried introducing natural disasters, disease and war, but these creatures just can't be controlled.

We're going to nuke this experiment tomorrow - I think that's 2012 in human time.

Before arriving in Tallinn, we visited the Tallinn TV Tower, located just outside the city center. Standing at 314 meters, it is the tallest structure in Estonia and was built between 1975 and 1980 for the Moscow Olympics when Tallinn hosted the sailing events. Today, the tower still serves as both a telecommunications and observation tower. We enjoyed the observation deck at 170 meters, which offers stunning panoramic views of Tallinn, the Gulf of Finland, and the surrounding landscape - Tallinn, Estonia

It's more than four years already that I stood here, looking out over the city that never sleeps. And next week I'll stand here again. I'm really looking forward to it!

This is a new edit of a shot I took back in 2015.

The Observation Deck of the CEB Tower has spectacular 360 panoramic views of Washington DC.

Umeda Sky Building, Osaka, Japan

Having spend 20 minutes outside the building taking pictures I never really paid attention as to how you actually get in the building let alone ascend it. We eventually found the entrance and ticket office in the east tower which for some illogical reason redirects you over a raised walkway to the west tower for the lift. And here lies the start of our strained morning.

Mrs R has no problem with flying, she's happily flown around the world, been in helicopters and seaplanes, but high buildings with observation decks, glass floors; cable cars; mountain paths, and the crème de la crème - external elevators are not her forte, not to say I don't have fears of my own... bungee jumping (which she fancies doing), sky-diving (which she fancies doing)... "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus" springs to mind!

The queue wasn't very long at the lift so we all comfortably made it inside. Nothing untoward, standard box lift, cables on the rear wall, doors closed and off we went. The first three floors in darkness then all of a sudden daylight! The tall structure running the length of the west tower, which I had mistaken for architectural whimsy was in fact the external lift... Mrs R most unhappy (stage1).

A minute's ride to the top with one of us looking outside at the passing floors and the other staring deeply at her feet and we were back inside the tower - "thank god for that, not sure I can do that again!"

"Arrh" I said "we're not quite at the top yet"

"What do you mean?"

"We have to take the escalator to reach the top and the observation deck"

"What escalator???"

"The one that crosses back to the east tower"

I can't actually write what was said next, but stage 2 had well and truly been reached... but you get the picture.

A second lift full of visitors had ventured up the escalator long before I managed to coax Mrs R onto the first step of the mechanical stairway and so began our journey to heaven or hell, depending on your point of view.

What could possibly go wrong... we were only about 150m up with a few girders, struts and ties holding us up in fresh air not to mention the glass tube encapsulating it all. However, "Galloping Gertie" did cross my mind all the same.

Anyway enough about Mrs R... lets discuss the image, it's a minor miracle that this has turned out relatively sharp due to the gibbering wreck clinging to my backpack and inducing camera shake throughout the whole of the ride (she didn't even have the decency to bring the tripod). Once at the top I knew looking out of the observation deck windows at close quarters would be a bridge too far and the rooftop walkway a non-starter (stages 3 and 4).

Besides, we still had to negotiate the return journey down the other escalator and that looked far worse than the upward ride. I had visions of having to leave her there, marooned on the inner observation deck like Tom Hanks in The Terminal, trapped and unable to leave.

To be continued...

Returned from Tokyo today and enjoyed photo shooting of this beautiful city.

Please wait for organizing the photos :)

Funny story: I wake up early to catch beautiful sunrise views from the Burj Khalifa (tallest building in the world) in Dubai and arguably the best shot I get from the day is not really of the view at all..

I remember taking my daughter and cousin into New York City one cold day. My cousin was visiting from Germany and my daughter was about 6 years old.

I had given her a Nikon point and shoot film camera that I bought at Goodwill and she just took picture after picture.

I snapped this at the top of the Empire building. The wind picked up and blew up her hair behind. The lens flare was accidental but makes this such a sentimental photo for me.
