This is a scene from Red Rocks Park, Colorado. The projection from the rock is an observation deck. Ironically, this deck offers a splendid view of the natural surroundings, and at the same time interrupts the view of the natural surroundings when viewed from below :-)

The ospreys’ extensive breeding range extends to all the continents except South America (where it occurs widely in winter) and the Antarctic. The North American population declined greatly after 1947 because of the eggshell-thinning effects of DDT residues but began to recover after the pesticide was banned in 1972. Exterminated from the British Isles by 1910, the osprey reappeared there as a successfully breeding species in the 1950s and is now firmly reestablished in Scotland. Britannica

The Space Needle is an observation tower in Seattle, Washington, United States. Considered to be an icon of the city, it has been designated a Seattle landmark. Located in the Lower Queen Anne neighborhood, it was built in the Seattle Center for the 1962 World's Fair, which drew over 2.3 million visitors.
The Space Needle was once the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River, standing at 605 ft (184 m). The tower is 138 ft (42 m) wide, weighs 9,550 short tons (8,660 metric tons), and is built to withstand winds of up to 200 mph (320 km/h) and earthquakes of up to 9.0 magnitude, as strong as the 1700 Cascadia earthquake.
The Space Needle features an observation deck 520 ft (160 m) above ground, providing views of the downtown Seattle skyline, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains, Mount Rainier, Mount Baker, Elliott Bay, and various islands in Puget Sound. Visitors can reach the top of the Space Needle by elevators, which take 41 seconds. On April 19, 1999, the city's Landmarks Preservation Board designated the tower a historic landmark.
The critics who complain of the sickly separation of the beauty of nature from the thing to be done, must consider that our hunting of the picturesque is inseparable from our protest against false society. Man is fallen; nature is erect, and serves as a differential thermometer, detecting the presence or absence of the divine sentiment in man.
-Emerson; excerpt from his essay On Nature
An observation deck extending into a small pond, late during an autumn afternoon. This end of the pond lay mostly in shadow, but the bright sun still produced vivid and striking reflections on the pond's surface.

Chkalovskaya staircase - one of the symbols of Nizhny Novgorod. It connects the Nizhnevolzhskaya, Verkhnevolzhskaya embankments and the main city square - Minin and Pozharsky Square. The Chkalov ladder was built in honor of the victory of the Soviet people in the Battle of Stalingrad. This is one of the longest stairs in Russia. Initially, the stairs were called Stalingrad. It owes its present name to the monument to the outstanding pilot Valery Chkalov installed on the upper observation deck. A favorite question related to the stairs: “How many steps does she have?”. If you believe the numerous sites about Nizhny Novgorod, then the steps 560.
Created by Gustave Eiffel, the construction of the Eiffel Tower lasted just over two years and 250 workers worked there.
The artists of the moment considered it monstrous and the possibility of demolishing it on different occasions was raised.
With the advent of world wars on the twentieth century, the authorities found its usefulness as a broadcasting antenna and with it they captured messages that helped the allies decisively.
Nowadays, the Eiffel Tower is the most visited monument in the world with more than 7 million annual visitors.
Happy Friday , my friends.

Point Wilson is an active lighthouse located in the Fort Worden State park and marks the entrance into Puget Sound. It is the turning point from the Strait of Juan de Fuca into the Admiralty Inlet. The lighthouse is automated and is currently in use today.
The current station was built in 1914 and built in an octagon shape to reduce the wind pressure on the structure with a height of 51 feet. The current structure replaced original Point Wilson light that was built in 1879 as a companion to the Admiralty Head Light built in 1861 and demolished in 1928. The Admiralty Head Light was a wooden structure with a height of 30 feet.
Point Wilson Lighthouse has seen a few tragedies which included the SS Governor that sank in 1921 with 240 passengers aboard when it collided with another ship. Through heroic efforts most of the passengers were saved. Ghost hunters insist that Point Wilson Lighthouse is haunted.
Wish you all have a nice day :-)

This is one of the most dramatic sunrise I have seen in life. This scenic view was so beautiful that I didn't mind being quite cold with wind. Park rangers said that there are so many people at the overlook that you can't really see the canyon in summer times. Taken in October 2012 during a cross-country move. Until recently since I bought my first SLR camera, I had handled my cameras as if to use a point & shoot or a disposable camera. Therefore the quality and camera settings for this picture aren't as great as the camera can with proper setting.

Okuhida is a remote region of Gifu Prefecture in the mountains of the Northen Japanese Alps.
Known for its hot springs, the Okuhida region is one of the best places in all of Japan to enjoy large, attractive warm outdoor pools in natural surroundings.
Have a nice day, my friends!

Wishing all Flickr friends and the employees who make this site amazing, a healthy and Happy New Year! Personally, I'm not making any resolutions - just hoping for more kindness in the world and trying to do my part to make it happen.
This image was taken a year ago last fall. The original had the color you see here but just hints of it. I boosted them for an HSS theme.

This observation deck at Niagara Falls would be a great place to observe the falls. I have never been below but I did observe this wondrous scene from above.
