The Florida State Capitol in Tallahassee, Florida, is an architecturally and historically significant building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Capitol is at the intersection of Apalachee Parkway and South Monroe Street in downtown Tallahassee, Florida.

The Historic Capitol, sometimes called "The Old Capitol," built in 1845, was threatened with demolition in the late 1970s when the new capitol building was built. Having been restored to its 1902-version in 1982, the Historic Capitol is directly behind the new Capitol building. Its restored space includes the Governor's Suite, Supreme Court, House of Representatives and Senate chambers, rotunda, and halls. Its adapted space contains a museum exhibiting the state's political history, the Florida Historic Capitol Museum, which is managed by the Florida Legislature. On April 18, 2012, the AIA's Florida Chapter placed the Historic Capitol Building (Restoration) on its list of Florida Architecture: 100 Years. 100 Places.

The New Tower houses executive and legislative offices and the chambers of the Florida Legislature (consisting of the Florida Senate and Florida House of Representatives).

The buildings are universally, though informally, known as the Old Capitol and the New Capitol; the former is sometimes called the Historic Capitol, or also, confusingly, the Florida State Capitol. The latter was its official name prior to the construction of the New Capitol in 1977 and was so called by the National Park Service even after the New Capitol was operating. Its legal name today, however, is the Florida Historic Capitol Museum. The New Capitol, as a whole, does not have a legal name. When it was planned, the Capitol Complex (which is a legal name) was going to consist of the House and Senate chambers, and the twenty-two-story office building.

In 2005 'Duisburg' was still painted in the striking Star Alliance scheme and, if you take a closer look, it also sported the Soccer Nose to promote the FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany.

Today this frame is still active.

Early 2009, it was fully re-painted in the airline's standard scheme.

Unfortunately there's only one widebody aircraft left in Lufthansa's fleet carrying the Star Alliance colour these days.

Another from my night at Rockefeller Center, this time looking north towards Central Park. I was hoping to get someone to stand at the corner, but couldn't get anyone to cooperate. The spectacular sunset to the south was too diverting. Too bad, as the northern view was also pretty special that night.

The Willis Tower offers stunning views of the city on a clear day. One can see 5 states and many square miles.

A panoramic view of downtown and the north side. One of my favourite images. I love this city!

The sun was about 20 minutes from setting and made for a nice reflection over the city.

The picture may look a little warped and that's due to the method I used in Lightoom to decrease cropping.

Next night I went up in The Shard for the first time. Although overcast, the rain thankfully held off. Spectacular views up and down the Thames.

The tall building in blue lights is the Empire State Building. This was one of the coolest experiences I have ever had- being outside, so high up above the city. It was chilly all the way up there but I could almost ignore it because the view was so breathtaking! You can't take a tripod up there but we had beanbags which helped.

Reykjavík is seen on a stormy afternoon from Perlan's observation deck. The big church in center is Hallgrímskirkja, the Lutheran parish church in Reykjavík, Iceland. Besides being the largest church in Iceland, with its steeple rising 244 feet high (74.5 meters), it is among the tallest structures in Iceland. Built in 1986 and designed by Guðjón Samúelsson, the church is an example of Expressionist architecture.

Imagine a skyscraper with an indoor garden, three eateries and, arguably, the best views in London. If you like the sound of this, you will love London's Sky Garden!

Unlike most other observation towers, Sky Garden is free to visit. All you have to do is do is go online and book a slot at a certain day and time. Once you are there, feel free to stay as long as you like.

Auttiköngäs is one of the best places to visit in Rovaniemi for nature lovers. From dense forests to spectacular waterfalls, this area boasts breathtaking beauty. Auttiköngäs is a perfect destination for a day out. Here stands a rocky observation tower that offers a stunning view of the surroundings, including a beautiful winter's vista over the snow-capped peaks. The Kuusamontie Nature Tower is located 70 km east of Rovaniemi. The main attraction of the area is the 16-meter-high Auttiköngäs waterfalls. The forest in the Auttiköngäs area is so ancient that it can be considered a primary or pristine forest. The massive nature tower sits atop the rocky peak along the Auttiköngäs Nature Trail, 200 m above sea level. Accessible via a staircase and a platform, you can reach the observation deck. The tower is roofed and surrounded by a stunning ancient forest atop a hill, offering a magnificent view of the surrounding hills and the snow-capped peaks. Tables and benches are placed beside the nature tower. The location is equipped with a campfire pit, benches, a woodshed, and an annex. The annex features a natural stone fireplace, perfect for roasting sausages and brewing coffee. It also includes a large table and benches. Firewood is available in the nearby woodshed.

Auttiköngäs is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in Finland, surrounded by the tranquility of the taiga forest. The Auttikönkä nature trail takes you over the waterfall, into the primeval forest, and towards the rocks. An interesting and diverse nature trail begins on the premises of the wooden café-restaurant Pirttikahvila. The popular Auttikönkää nature trail can be traversed on foot even in winter. Please be aware that especially stairs and hills can be very slippery, as there is no winter maintenance on the route. Photo of BieJee walking towards the Kuusamontie observation deck.

The Dowling Studio on the 9th floor of the Guthrie Theater features an amber glass box that is cantilevered 15 feet from the face of the building, and provides a near 360-degree view of the historic riverfront district, including the Mississippi River, The Stone Arch Bridge, St. Anthony Falls, Mill City Museum, Gold Medal & Pillsbury Parks, Nicollet Island and the St. Anthony Main area.
