Photo Title: Retinsocopy (Objective Refraction)

Submitted by: Frederick Afum Asare

Category: ♥ HEALTH FOR ALL

Country: Ghana

Organization:

Photo Caption: This image shows an optometrist (myself) conducting retinsocopy on a student in the Bongo district of Ghana in a classroom without enough dark room illumination for the test.

Despite the unfavorable conditions of the room and the weather for retinsocopy, I was keen on delivering refractive services to schoolchildren with uncorrected refractive errors to alleviate the burden of vision impairement.

When a child becomes blind, they tend to have many more blind years, which affects their quality of life. Providing spectacles to these children and seeing them see again is really heart warming.

This shot of Sophia at the sink grabbing for paper towels, shows an objective camera view. This is because we can see an objective view of the scene from no ones point of view.

Mackenzie begins her run. This would be from the passerby's point of view.

Charcoal on paper.

This drawing is an observational drawing. I drew a variety of materials in A1 size of sheet.

We are trying to refine the objectives.

Assignment 2 for my Intermediate class is to photograph something in an objective and subjective manner.

+ you can still tell that the picture is of lockers

- the original picture was a little blurry but I think it added to the effect in the end.
