OUTSIDE CBS PHILLY
While almost 100 community members stood outside CBS’s offices at a press conference critical of mainstream media's refusal to objectively cover genocide in Gaza, no one from CBS or any of the larger media institutions were in attendance.
This continues to show how CBS, the Inquirer, and other media companies are complicit in their silencing news around Palestine, including the silencing of their local audiences.
We are witnessing the depraved and horrifying genocide of the Palestinian people in Gaza for almost two shameful years. As our government continues to be partners in genocide, western media has aided and abetted the genocide in their biased and dehumanizing coverage of Palestinians, regurgitation of Zionist lies, and inability to take a clear stand against the blatant disregard of international law and human life, including the lives of over 270 reporters in Gaza.
It is no surprise then that CBS is one of many western media institutions that fail to report truthfully about Palestine, including the deliberate assassinations of reporters in Gaza. Israel’s assassination of Anas al-Sharif and several other journalists from Al Jazeera has raised the total of journalists killed in Palestine to over 270. This targeted attack has killed all remaining Al Jazeera reporters in Gaza and showcases how far Israel is willing to go to suppress the truth and the extent of their war crimes. Targeting and killing journalists is a war crime and the number of Palestinian journalists killed has become far higher than those of WWI, WWII, the Korean War, the War in Vietnam, and the U.S. wars in Iraq combined.
CBS Philadelphia’s headquarters is outside the very same building that also houses Day and Zimmerman- the fifth largest weapons maker in the U.S. and who also has the blood of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians on their hands. We will continue demanding an immediate end to the genocide and the U.S.’s unconditional support of it.
